    The History of Hunter Mountain

This is pretty cool, even though I don't like the place much at all these days. Check out the slide show at the bottom.

I grew up at Windham and skied Hunter like twice. Hated it, way to crowded. Good read though
Took me like 10 minutes to figure out how to change this shit

Yeah, that mountainside to your left as you ride the main chair from the bottom (isn't it a six pack now?) looks pretty sweet. I hear that a state legislator from Brooklyn, of all places, has blocked that expansion for years.

sister and bro in law coach at windham nowadays after leaving hunter. would rather hit plattekill–but hunter can be fun.

always wished mt. beacon was open when i was growing up but if dreams were pennies i'd be rich.

I remember doing YMCA trips to Huntah from Jersey in the mid-70's. They used to make you demonstrate your skills before they'd let you ride the upper mountain lifts. Not a bad practice IMO.

Weekends=teh suck, but could be fun for a mid-week powder day or late season corn.

There was a huge cougar migration from Huntah to Killington in the early 2000's. Aparently their hunting grounds had been depleted.

Ha! I thought you were referring to the other cougars that left Hunter after most of the bars burned to the ground... Accurate statement either way

With a name like "Slutsky" it's hard to see how anyone could go wrong.

I think you're thinking of West Mountain. Hunter has no lights.

No, he's thinking of either West or Willard, both within easy driving distance from Skidmore. Hunter is about two hours.

Hunter had night skiing from 1964 through '72. Don't know if it was T2B.
