    origin8 29'r

So I'm wicked poor and want a 29'r. Bad combination, I know. I'd really like a Nimble 9 but that ain't gonna happen. Anybody here have experience on the origin8 Scout 29'r? On fleabay they're available with rigid fork for $299 free shipping. It's steel and the price is right. Any reason not to? anybody have any better deals for me ~$400 is my upper budget at this point.

Huh. I know nothing about the brand but it looks cool.

My thought is that if I bought it all I would need is wheels and tires to ride. The rest of the parts I could pull from my ancient titus. I like the 433mm chainstays too.

What about an Niner EMD9? I bought one from Jenson this spring for $320ish, I'm assuming there are some still floating around. Pretty light for a cheaper frame. No fork but I'm assuming you would only use the rigid fork short term?

does look cool. is that a thru axle? 142? might add some $to the build. steel w gussets and a lil bend in st to shorten cs are nice features. i'd be weary of inexpensive straight blade forks though.

I actually just saw a review and write-up of this frame on my local club's message board. The review was generally positive. It doesn't seem like you can go wrong at that price.

It's just a spacer it's a 135 rear end. The rigid fork is definitely short term. I'm lucky enough to be in Anchorage and have the luxury to ride smooth buffed trails or rooty nastyness if I choose so the rigid could work until a real fork could be acquired.

Do you already have the parts to build it up?

    If not...

If I get the frame with fork I'll have everything but wheels.

Had some origin8 Mary Bar knock offs. I also tried to get an Origin8 carbon 29er fork 4+ years ago. My experience with their stuff has been pretty good. My thoughts are that they use someone else's mold/design and then throw their name on it. The carbon 29er fork looked the same as the White Brothers rock solid carbon fork. I've noticed their high end carbon 29er frame looks alot like another manufacturers at about half the price. That being said, Jensonusa.com has some pretty good deals on 29er frames (Niner brand and Jamis)
