    Blogger P&S Reccos?

Say, hypothetically, I have a photo-intensive blog where photography is just a means to an end - food photography, trail running blog, etc..

90% of my posts are pictures with captions and/or stories, and it's hosted on Tumblr (awesomest blog interface IMHO!).

My 5D + prime lenses rig is out for this use since a) I don't always have it with me, b) it requires huge overhead downloading, converting, post-processing, & uploading the photos.

My Samsung Galaxy (and previously iPhone 4) with Tumblr app does an awesome job of easily interfacing to Tumblr, but the photo quality is just SHIT, and there's very limited 'on-the-fly' post-processing available.

So, what would YOU do? Look for a smartphone with better built-in camera? Look for a P&S with built-in WiFi (Samsung SH100,...)?

    Hypothetical unlimited budget...

    Thanks for the input!

What about a simple P&S? Not much (if any) editing required, so you can upload directly from the camera to the PC/blog. I just got the Canon 300HS point and shoot and the picture quality is great compared to the 5-yr old camera I got rid of. It weighs about 5oz and is as big as a cell phone, so it's easy to take anywhere.

I should've been clearer: I would like to entirely remove the intermediate "Upload to PC" step, if possible. From my phone I take the picture from the Tumblr app, write a caption and a story that goes with it, and hit upload. Close to zero overhead.

Just did some more research, looks like the HTC One X has a solid camera along with ICS Android. Hmmmm.

iPhone photos are pretty solid, the hard part is that you have to hold...still... when you take the picture. Snapseed is free on the app store today and I guess its a great photo app. There is also camera+ and photoshop for IOS. Plenty of people are getting good shots with those.

Does your galaxy have a slot for a microSD card? You could shoot onto the card, drop it in your phone and upload from there. Picture quality even on $150 P&S cameras is plenty good enough for a photo blog like you're talking about. The new iPhone cameras are all pretty good for that as well, if you don't Instagram away the the quality.
