Another Boat Thread--Help needed. Pulled the trigger on a jet.

OK, I've been looking for a shallow running jet boat for a few years now.

Stumbled upon this Edge Marine 24' Center Console, 383 Stroker HO, Hamilton 212 jet, T-top, fully outfitted, tandem trailer, etc. It is a 2007 with 8 hours on it.

Boat is somewhere on the coast of Washington State. I need to get it to East Tennessee. If you have any interest in dragging it half way to say Little Rock, I'm interested in talking to you. Going to put up an ad on Uship.com, but thought I would try here too.

Biggest concern is whether the T-top will pass under a bridge to get to the river I want to fish. We may have to hinge it some way.

    Here's the beast.

    With trailer

There are all kinds of boat shippers. I just got a quote on a Barefoot Nautique from Tx to IL for $800.

There are two days of happiness in a boat owners life, the day he buys it and the day he sells it.

Yep, just posted it on Uship.com If I can get it to St. Louis, that's about 13 hours from here and meet half way.

All true on the best days.

I've got to move a 24' Sea Ray deck boat to make room for this one. Also have to figure out how to hinge the T-top to get it in the garage.

And buy a nice set of rods and a Minn Kota trolling motor, and, and, and....

Then they bought the wrong boat. I just about cried when I sold my Nautique last fall, but the offer for the whole package was just too good. Plus I liked the guy and wanted him to have a really good boat.
This is the first spring since 1978 I haven't had a boat and I'm starting to jones.

You sold? Are you able to get some water time in still? I know you're in Aspen all winter, not sure about spring summer. I'd think you could find somewhere to use a boat.

TK looks like a useful boat. Aluminum hull I assume for bouncing rocks? 383 + Jet = Lots of gas!

Is a trip down the w. coast -> panama canal -> gulf -> mighty miss. -> ocoee river out of the question?

I'll take a WAG at 20 gallons per hour fuel consumption. Probably 5 hours range. Long way in the ocean. Nice looking boat. Should be allot of fun.

Yeah, we talked about that. I would have to pull a barge for gas.

Has an 80 gallon tank. I hope keeping my hand out of WOT will help that some. It has an 8hp Yammy kicker, so maybe I run it all the time.

Dayum Ken, Edges are made by the same guys who built Boice Jets just up the road from me back in the day. About as good as it gets. Didn't know a jet was really necessary in TN?

You are probably right, but.... We have several rivers around here to trout fish, and stripers make runs up the rivers. Nothing big like the Rogue River, but a few class 3 ripples here and there.

Most everyone around here runs some type of jon boat, a G3 or Xpress with a tunnel hull and a 90 jet on the back. By the time you get 3 people in the boat and fill the live well, max speed is less than 20mph. Think I've got that covered.

My dad is 84 and still active. It is big, stable and will be comfortable for him. Probably the biggest reason I went with a boat this style.

You wanna drag it home for me? Best quote I've got to get it to St. Louis is $1,500. $2,200 to Chattanoga.

$2200 to Chattanooga doesn't seem too far off to me. Hell I looked into taking a road trip to go get it for you and it would cost me more than half that much just in diesel. No matter how you slice it, that boat is going to have to make quite a long trip.

Still, it's a fine lookin skiff! You're gonna slay some trout in that thing.

nice. just be careful if you don't have much experience with a jet, especially that powerful. learning curve can be a lot steeper than a prop. when in doubt, step on it! never maneuver at full throttle, always want some reserve to power out of a slide. practice leaning over and cleaning the pump and don't forget to grease the impeller after each trip! enjoy, that's a hell of a boat.

What's the story, a 2007 and only 8 hours? Kind of a red flag? Do you have anyone that could check it out first?

Guy bought it to guide with. Had a massive stroke. Yeah, I've talked to some folks on the boat and they say it is what it is.

Almost home my ass. Guy is a CDL so he can only drive 11 hours per day. He has two days to go!!!

Hopefully, I will get to crack the throttle Sunday or Monday!!

Ordered blue Avet reels today, and some Penn spinners. The blue vortex.

Good luck. I know how nerve wracking this whole process is. Once it is home, it will be all good. Man that thing just looks fun.

Hey- if you hinge that T-Top, I would look at adding some rear supports that pin to the floor. Lots of guys around here hinge their t-tops and tuna towers, so it can be done. I would just worry about the skinniness of that top where it hits the floor. Too much twisting and turning if you add a hinge.
