Yeah I wasn’t really getting the point of the question…my elderly parents also use the Apple ecosystem and they take for granted getting texts or making calls across all their devices despite only one of the 3 having a SIM. A few years ago they weren’t clear on the concept .

Of course it still exists. The App is still on the Play Store for Android devices.

MKBHD just did a preview of the Pixel 8. Looking forward to the full review. I'm about 99% sure it'll be my next phone.

I'm still annoyed that they only put the telephoto on the large screen version.

In general, I find Pro size phones to be too big / not usable. Too bad the market doesn't seem to agree with me

I might stop in and check out the 8pro today. I'm a pixel guy.

T-Mobile pays the photo off for you, 90$ a month w 50g hotspot. Totally clutch for me as a van guy.

Yeah, that's my major complaint, too. I have a Pixel 7 Pro and it's a little bigger than I want, but I deal with it. Not seeing much of a reason to upgrade. Especially since I have an older plan with TMobile and they don't give us the best trade in deals anymore.

I have the 7a and it is still a little too big for me, but that's how things go now.

Yup. It's really frustrating. These modern jumbo phones is actually what inspired my wife to make the switch to Apple after all these years and is pretty happy with it. I'd be tempted to switch too if I didn't like the stock Pixel software side of things so much. That's where they shine. It's all the little things that make them so nice.

Good news. I played with the demo 8 at Best Buy today and it's a bit smaller than the 7a! It's not smaller by a ton (maybe 1/4" one way and 1/8" the other) but it's quite noticeable in feel when holding them both at the same time. Held up to my 3, it's dang near the same in width, but only about 1/8" taller. MUCH improved over the previous generations IMO. Forget the 8 Pro. That one's still too hudge for my taste. Fantastic display. This is the one to get (for me).

Here's the 7a next to the 8. 7a demo was dead so couldn't compare screen sizes exactly but was more interested in outer dimensions anyway...

The size of the 6 and 7 are fine in my not particularly big hands. It's when the corner of it jabs me in the ribs while in my pocket that bothers me. The 8 looks to have more rounded corners, so that's a plus.

ATT is offering me the Pro for $0 if I give them my 6 Pro and commit to (what looks like my current plan) for three years.

Yep, I'm also in the camp where it's carrying it in my front pocket limits the size. I actually like a large screen when I'm actually using it (save for some extra battery life drain), but I don't want my pockets bulging excessively with wallet, keys, and phone.

This crowd prolly isn't the ideal audience but I have really enjoyed my fold 4 during the year or so I've had it. Silly good screen, plenty of battery life, silly good screen, tons of processor power & RAM, silly good screen...

    15 pro from a 6? No brainer.

AT&T is running some pretty massive trade in deals right now on the 15 Pro (and pro max).

They'll give me $830 for my 13 mini, which is 2-3x what it is worth--if I had a slightly more valuable phone, they'd give me the full $1000.

I need to read the fine print on my current phone's payment plan--I think they might try to screw me in the trade in credits for my last phone, but otherwise I could pick up a 15 Pro for like $4/mo (they make you do it over 3 years).

Not 100% sure I want to though. Satellite SOS, usb-c, tele lens, and raw photos are the benefits I care about. Thankfully Apple still gives you all the photo features without making you get the huge phone.

But I hate to give up my mini form-factor. It has been real good to me and going back to a bigger phone feels wrong...One-hand use is so easy.

I'm in the android world, so that's a Pixel 6 Pro to a Pixel 8 Pro. Agree that the iPhone cameras are insanely good at this point, but the Pixels have definitely caught up. Also, free is a great motivator because I wasn't planning on changing carriers anyway.

I preordered the pixel 8 pro today.. Using Google Fi app for my shopping... $400 off the $999 list price.... I am a current Fi customer....the price could be lower with a trade in.. But I decided to keep my pixel 6 pro as a emergency backup..

I'm on Fi, went through the process, but didn't see a trade in credit option.

It looks like going through Fi you don't get the Pixel Watch promotion? Trying to figure out what the best trade in deal is here.

Ah gotcha. Our ecosystem is Apple so it’s iPhone 14pros for us currently.

I’m trying to figure out how any highly active skier / mtber / trail runner could deal with the huge phones that have become the mainstream market norm.

My iPhone 12 mini is a great size, sits on the inner side of my pants pocket when biking (less likely to get damaged) and in the small chest pocket of all my outerwear.
