I had kinda dismissed the X4 after your review. Probably the way to go, though. Current offer is $75 off plus a $150 trade-in credit, so $175 out the door.
I meant ROM. Even with my camera cleared, app caches cleared, minimally used apps uninstalled, etc. I only have about 1GB of available storage. Take a couple minutes of video or download one Hardcore History episode and I'm completely out of space.
Tried this yet?

Yeah, didn't offer much. It mostly frees up space from the camera and downloads.
Looking at my 32gb 5X right now -- I have 16.5gb used out of 32gb (no music, videos, minimal photos, no video games). 7.5gb of apps. I guess your phone is full.
This Moto G5 Plus offer is available now -- $215 including 6 mo of Republic Wireless service. Republic is a T Mobile + Sprint MVNO, so I assume domestic coverage will be the same as Google Fi.

Fi has saved my bacon (real bacon, not pre-cooked). Mediocre coverage in my area, makes up for it across the border in Cannuckistan with data roaming at same cost as domestic. Plus my trip to Germany and Romania. I don't plan to give up on Fi.
Jobs showed his full on lack of any scruples the first release of one of the Apple II operating systems. They had just met with a programmer that wrote a game for the Apple. He demoed it at their office one one of their machines. After that he left and Jobs or one of the others (Woz was around too) they saved the game to a disk and next release of the OS had this game included with it. No contract no rights or agreement, just out and out basically saved the code and included it. The guy that wrote the game of course found out and had to negotiate his compensation for the stolen game after the fact of it being shipped with every new Apple system.
I agree for sure on that.
Have a better chance of getting a used Nexus and either having battery issues on the used phone or some other things like that. Would have to be a really great deal and savings to jump on the Nexus which is 3 phones series back now (Nexus, Pixel, now Pixel 2)
If you need a cheap, decent phone in a hurry.

$104 after an instant coupon. I ordered one for my daughter to replace her dying G3. It went with the 32gb G4 because it will get here before she heads back to Uni in Canada. I wanted an E^4, however it would not arrive in time from Moto. Plus it's only 16gb. Sure, having a newer model would have advantages.
Liking my new to me kindle 7 as an addition to my HTC phone.
watch out for snakes
I wish the Moto E^4 was configured in 32gb without going up in physical size to the plus. My daughter doesn't want a bigger phone.
Best Buy won't have any for me to pick up until Saturday within a hundred miles. I'd have to drive down to Albany to get it sooner. Fuc that.
Iphone 5s was dying, and I finally got a replacement through work last week. Pixel2. So far so good, takes a little getting used to but has some nice features and is absent some of the things that annoyed me most with i-phone. Pixel2 has some annoyances of its own like notifications from various apps I never turned on, don't want, and can't yet see how to stop. Battery life has not been great so far, though I may just need to mess with settings more to save power. The iphone took pretty good pictures in most cases and seemed especially good in lower light, but the Pixel2 blows it away.
The main annoyance is with Verizon business practices. No free handsets with contract anymore, which is fine, but the way they do it is underhanded. They offer a sizeable discount to purchase a phone which requires a 2-year contract ($50 for Pixel2). You get the same monthly "rate," but they tack on a $25 data access charge on top of the line access fee. This extra charge doesn't apply if you aren't under contract. You avoid being under contract by paying full msrp for the phone or Verizon's "discounted" purchase price, $350 for Pixel2 vs 650 msrp, which has to be paid monthly on your phone bill. But the discount they give you really isn't a discount. If you have to move to a new provider or even move the line from business to personal account or vice versa they bill the whole credit back to your account. Nice way to keep people tied to their accounts. Assholes... Good thing it will get billed to my employer if I leave.![]()
Just making some possible alternatives, no big fan of Best Buy but if they are close by worth a browse to see stock and availability. Walmart seems to have changed their price match policy, only match to Walmart.com last time I was in, no Amazon or other popular sites out there.
You can adjust individual app notifications under the notifications in settings. It's something like settings/notifications/apps/select app you'll get the rest. It's easier for devs to build with notification on by default and letting you decide.
By the way. How do you like actually deciding things for yourself, instead of the phone manufacturer telling you?

I had a 6P. Loved everything about that phone. Just go ahead and Google "Nexus 6P Bootloop of Death". Apparently, you have to take a razor blade and physically cut off hardware off the internals of the phone. It left me high and dry, and they wouldn't replace or warranty the phone at all.
"Yo!! Brentley! Ya wanna get faded before work?"
When you get a notification, don't just swipe it gone. Instead, swipe it gently over a smidge, and you should see the little gear icon that will enable you to turn notifications off for that app. Eventually, you will have turned off everything you want.
I have the pixel, and the camera is incredible.

Yeah, I have a LG V10 that is know for the same bootloop issue. Literally days after my final payment it bootlooped. Luckily I got it to fire up by putting it in the freezer for a half hour and got all my unbacked up data. Then LG put in a new motherboard since it's a known issue, even though it was a year out of warranty. So it kind of feels like I have a new phone, which is nice since I love that V10 and they dropped some things on the V30 that I was going to miss.

Holy, this phone sounds INCREDIBLE
Thanks. All I can say is this phone is a lot smarter than I am. For the time being til I figure it out I'll be using whatever settings google imposes on me. And right now it's definitely having its way with me...
Thx. I will try that out and hopefully get this thing under control.
Here are a couple more pics from today, amazing only because of how low-light it was:

From a spammy click bait "news" site, but facts sounds credible.
Last week, Apple confirmed that it slowed down the iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6S, 6S Plus, and SE through a software update. The company said this feature "smooth[ed] out the instantaneous peaks only when needed to prevent the device from unexpectedly shutting down." Lithium-ion batteries, which are used in iPhones, "become less capable of supplying peak current demands when in cold conditions, have a low battery charge, or as they age over time, which can result in the device unexpectedly shutting down to protect its electronic components." The software update prevented this from happening.
