Damn. I had high hopes that USB-C would mean an end to the USB port failures. My MicroUSB port currently has the same issue and it's driving me fucking nuts.

Wishful thinking. I think it is the phone, not the cable.

Well, I need something, 7.1.2 is killing me. I spent 20 days in Europe and couldn't get through a day even with my power pack and keeping location services off most of the time, which sort of negates a huge reason to have the damn thing.

If you're on Fi you can sign up for the beta program. I think the Fi OTA update is pushing out soon.

I used to have the 5x until it bootlooped on me, followed by the replacement boot looping 3 weeks later. Went to the XL specifically for more battery life. I feel your pain. The 5x battery blows.

Oreo (Android 8.0) was released this week. First to get it will be the Google phones- Pixel's mostly, some carriers will push it OTA and others will wait before doing the OTA and do some more testing and and have a selected list of phone models that will get it.

RE Micro USB plug- as stated usually it is in the phone side. The problem most have is the little board that slides down over the plug gets damaged- too much force sideways and the board breaks or the contacts get dirty or damaged.

After holding out forever, I'm looking at getting a smart phone on verizon. Looking at android. I would like to keep things at or below $20 a month for the phone.

I'm thinking G6. Any reason why I would be swayed by the Moto z2 Play or a refurb s7/s7 Edge?

No idea. But I just picked up a Moto E4 Plus. Battery life is unreal, legit two days with pretty heavy use. And, the "non user replaceable battery" is held in by a couple screws and the back just pops off to access it. I'm all about easy maintenance. Coming from an X Pure I barely miss the better screen.

just go to Costco and buy a Moto G5 plus for around $200. I bought one for $229.00 and another one for my kid when they had a $40 instant rebate.

Mrs. C. is still on her G4, works great. It just updated to Android 7, OTA, on Total Wireless -- was kind of surprised that it did. I expected to have to manually install that update.

If shopping now, I'd watch Slickdeals or similar sites for a sale on a Moto G5 and grab it.
