Just picked up a Galaxy s6 edge plus and it's quite a nice upgrade from my 2.5yo Galaxy Alpha. Edge screen is hokey but the display sure is slick. At $350 shipped for a brand new device with mfg warranty it didn't seem like too bitter a pill either.

Got in on the black friday deal for a Google Pixel for $240 with no contract extension. Huge upgrade from my G3. Really smooth Android interface.
My contract is almost up on my Samsung Galaxy S5. I really don't like the phone. I'm on Sprint, so thinking about Google Fi because I know the coverage map will be ok. What's the word on the phones available for it?

Just bought a Pixel. Verizon $10/mo deal for 24 mos. No trade in. Not too bad. The phone is really nice. I'm excited to explore everything the assistant can do. Anyone need a clean Verizon Moto X gen 2? Bro deal. Works fine. Battery is getting a little tired though. Just PM me.
Been on Android since I first got a smartphone about 10 years ago, thought I might get an iphone just for the fuck of it as my S5 is losing its mind gradually. Bad idea? Good idea?
Whatever. They don't even check or ask. I had one in checked luggage, and one in carry-on.
the phone is in a league of its own. It's Waterproof, wireless charging, great battery life, stylus pen, big screen fastasfuck processor; Nothing else rivals it and I'm not going to settle for an inferior replacement and get locked into a 2 year contract with that inferior phone.
Note7rebels.Com has cropped up and offers disablers to stop updates that would brick the phone and return it back to 100% battery life
Just a heads up.
Next year's xmas blockbuster. Fire in the Sky: An MPPG Story.
Ya, i was powered off and all, and I guess its kinda dumb and selfish to risk it but in all honesty the recall is completely overblown, I can look up the stats but it's roughly .0024% chance of fire. Out of 3 million there's been 35 confirmed cases, and a significant number of fraud cases.
Iphones and the G7 have had cases of battery's catching on fire as well, albeit not to the extent.
My phone broke a couple days ago.
Went in and got the cheapest phone they had.
It works fine.

Did you go to Verizon or ATT? What was the cheapest phone they had? I mean, is it still a smartphone that runs $300+?

Good. I was an Android evangelist until I scored a 6S for free. I thought I'd try it out, then sell it, but I kept it. Been completely solid while my wife's S6 she got at the same time has been nothing but trouble. Every Android I've owned hasn't really aged well. They get slow and buggy. Our trusty, vanilla Android Nexus 7 tablets have been pissing me off. Meanwhile, our ancient iPads at work that are lent out and see constant use are chugging along.
Get the iPhone, watch 10 minutes of YouTube videos, and accept the fact that there's no back button, and you'll be fine.

Yeah, subsidized phones on 2y contracts have morphed into financed phones with payment plans. But if you just roll into the Verizon store and tell them you need a new phone but just want to pay for it, no mumbo jumbo loans or subsidies, what do they offer you?
I'm not looking to switch cuz I get a very heavily discounted rate on ATT. Just wondering what they tell you if you're some dinosaur like me who doesn't want a smoke and mirrors financing offer on a new device.

I bought Mrs C. a Motorola G4 to replace her old Galaxy S5. Hasn't been set up yet, it's a Christmas gift. Hoping it's a similar experience to the Nexus 5X - specs are close, supposedly very minimal add-ons from Motorola, so hoping it's basically stock Android without bloatware. Runs on all carriers, and is unlocked. She's on Verizon and insists on keeping it.
The G4 can be had for very cheap if you are willing to put up with lock screen ads - Amazon sells a special version. I have a Fire tablet with lock screen ads, and it's OK. Mrs. C. refused to use the phone with ads, so paid more and she's getting the next one up in the line.
If you do not want to finance the phone, then you are paying the retail (or maybe the "special" price if a model is on promotion or sale price). So lets say you want the newest Version 7 (Samsung Galaxy S7 - is $672 retail or $28 per month (now also with a trade in credit available to bring this down to $10 per month) or Apple Iphone 7 smart phones- The price would be for the Apple 7 $27.08/mo for 24 months, 0% APR; or pay outright the Retail Price: $649.99 to walk out with the phone. So it is pretty close to 0% finance if you figure the payments totals. Of course these are also based on good credit rating and the monthly price can go up if you have lousy credit They may have trade in promotions for additional reductions (vs selling your phone outright on Swappa or Craigslist or where ever and use that money to pay down the new phone) or you can still find some phones subsidized 2 year contract extension offers last I checked into it.
Right, so I walk into VZW and tell the clerk I want to buy their cheapest phone outright with cash. I wonder what they offer me.

There are a number of entry level phones out there- like The Samsung Galaxy J3 V or maybe still a Samsung Grand Prime or LG or Motorola has a few "entry level" basic smart phones- no real high end processor, camera- just a basic camera, possibly limited internal memory that would not work for an app lover that has to load up their phone with a long list of apps. Other option is used bring your own device, or they have refurbished phones they all sell which tend to be 1 or 2 generations back that are traded in and tested/repaired and probably a new battery stuck in them.

iPhone or galaxy was $10/mo 2ys no interest on Verizon starting last Sunday...I finally updated since it wasn't going to be $650
If you spend over 200 bones for a phone you are a fool.
