    Valhalla update

    Received today.........

    Hello everyone,

As I'm sure you've all heard, the whole Pacific northwest was hit with a pineapple express early last week. During this unprecedented warm cycle, it rained well above mountain tops across all of BC and Alberta and caused a lot of large natural avalanches and shut many operations and ski hills down for a few days - including us. It stayed unseasonably warm for about a week and, as a result, the majority of the instabilities in the snow have either released naturally or settled out. It has since slowly cooled of, precipitating the whole time leaving us currently with excellent skiing conditions.

Unlike the coast, we were fortunate to have lost very little snow base here in the Valhalla Mountains during the unusually warm weather pattern. Today, for instance, we are skiing between 20-30cm fresh cold powder that we accumulated in the last 3 to 4 days under sunny skies with good snow stability. We are now in a weather pattern that is expected to leave us with colder weather and snowfall for the next 7 to 10 days.

In short - winter is back and the skiing is great at Valhalla Powdercats! We have just finished more snow roads accessing a new and very large area of terrain and have also pushed many of our snow roads higher than ever before.

We want everybody to know that we are back in full operation and looking forward to visits from all those guests that have already booked with and that we still have some spaces for those that are looking for - and in need of - a good powder fix.

    Take care for now,

    Martin Keyserlingk & Lindsay Hoyt

Let's all hope (for BakerBoy's sake, too) that Mr. G's lab work results come back negative.
