    stoke overload (or good karma)

Last night, I come home from an overall shitty day at work to find High Life and my new tshirt sitting on the couch waiting for me. Pack the binger, and proceed to drool....Repeat.

This morning, I wake up to the sound of howling winds outside. I look out the window and damn if I'm not seeing the first snow of the season round these parts. I go to class feeling good, looking forward to checking out scenes of High Life when I get home.

Upon returning from class, I check the mailbox and am greeted with the new Powder.

Overall, not a bad 24 hours. I just hope it keeps snowing.

Not until the bank account improves dramatically. Heard Pittsburg got a bunch of snow recently. We definitely need to meet up at Snowshoe soon.

pittsburgh snow report: not so much

however, it's cold out there and i'm sure that most resorts will be turning on the guns as much as possible. what is snowshoe like? i've never been. most skiing around these parts i've done outside of seven springs has been holiday valley. is heading down towards MD or WV worthwhile?

Snowshoe definitely is the best place in the Mid-Atlantic area, they receive much more snow than other areas around here. It also has much more vertical than Seven Springs with Cupp Run and Shay's. Both have a legitimate 1500'.

The problem is that Cupp and Shay's are like the last runs to open. Virtually everything on the front side of the flattens out to beginner runs about a third of the way down the mountain. Snowshoe is a MASSIVELY long drive from anywhere and the lodging there is WAY overpriced.

That said, they are always the first to open in the area and have WAY more skiable acreage open throughout the season than anywhere else short of New England.

When is the Showshoe maggot infestation?

I have considered mentioning such a gathering, but always question whether or not it's worth it (terrain wise). That being said, I'm a relatively short drive away, so I'm in for whatever.

Acostiga, how was the show? Sorry I never got back to you, I ended up having to go to a wedding that weekend.

I'm planning on being there Dec 13 & 14 for the Demo Days weekend, cheap weekend to be up there. They've got some really good lodging/lift ticket deals around that time.

Anyone know how far snowshoe is from the Leesburg area?

i'd be up for a *gasp* mid-atlantic meeting, so long as i don't have any schedule conflicts. didn't get a pass for anywhere this year, so it's not worth my while to ski around here unless the conditions are excellent or there's some other good excuse. i don't even know how long of a drive it'd be for me. would be a good excuse to bust out the camo or if i could find one in a second-hand store, a starter jacket.

the pgh focused show wasn't too bad, mr. bagtagley. half the crowd were local shop employees and the other half were younger kids who all looked just like the pros who signed autographs. evidently i'm old enough that i can separate myself from the younger age brackets... ouch. i won a sweet helly hansen jacket, which is a good thing. buddies and i did our best to make it a heavy drinking affair later on after the show even though i couldn't get up the sphericals to work my game on kristi leskinen.

ps- any backyard brawl predictions? and i mean predictions beyond general lawlessess and pockets of angry mob-like behavior from the wvu student body... those are almost assumptions these days, correct?

Always count me in on a mid-atlantic summit.
And I beg to differ that they are always the first to open in the area, Sugar Mtn NC opens tomorrow. Of course even though they aren't open yet Snowshoe probably will have better coverage.

And yes, Virginia, Snowshoe is a long way from anywhere.
I should probably change my username to IReallyDon'tTeleMuchAnymoreDave.

I predict that I'll be hammer-smash-faced before kickoff (and that I'm too old to take part in any of the above mentioned lawlessness).
