But distance wasn’t consistent at all and feel was sub par. Went back to playing some old mizuno mp-32 blades I bought years ago. And I’m playing way better. Played a solo round of two balls today, ball 1=82, ball 2=83. Honestly the smaller head has me making way better contact. I’ve tried hitting a few other players distance irons and game improvement irons lately, and the blades are just better in every regard except distance (but that’s probably just the jacked lofts on new clubs). Sure I can’t hit the 3 or 4 worth a shit but that’s why they invented hybrids. And I’m hitting my whole bag better since going back to blades and heavy shafts. Mizuno isn’t even selling 3 irons in tour clubs as there’s been no mizuno player on tour bagging a 3 iron in years. Anyways, after convincing myself that I needed something more forgiving I found the opposite was true.
As a 10. This is exactly where I am, playing minty used twenty five year old Mizuno mp thirty twos from a trusted source in Japan . Would a game improvement iron give me better feel and distance? Maybe. But how good do those irons look and feel when used correctly!
Call me stubborn but I’m a visual feel player.
Glad I just re read that, i’m not alone!

Maybe I should practice more, maybe I should do a lot of things, but I know when I pull the iron and look down, it’s looking back at me and saying - I’m ready, are you???

I’m currently 4.6 and my Cobra S2 forged irons (7-GW) are 20 years old. I tried some other irons but they didn’t really change anything so I reshafted the 7 iron with a UST Recoil F3 to test. Huge difference so I did the whole set. I suspect maybe the overall weight of the older blades you guys are using is making a difference? What shafts do you have in those PXG’s?

I also just changed my wedges (54-58) to a Recoil 75g F3. That’s made a huge difference in my full swing wedges. I can generate club head speed through the ball where I need it. I’ve lost a bit of umph in sand but otherwise it’s a great change.

I’m also bagging callaway mini driver that helps my short quick tempo swing.

    Fore! Who's playing golf, yo-

I did a fitting with the Cobra rep. The three D irons are really nice but at three hundred a club I’ll pass. Most of the fitting reps are pretty lame but this guy actually listened to me. The shaft we dialed in was the Mitsubishi MMT eighty five g R for me. Great shaft! He’s a good player and said that’s the shaft he’s going with in S flex. His comment was why make it harder?

I’m at the range. Golf buddy got a full bag from “Club Champion”. They are absolute shit. Numbers off mats are questionable.

Couple of years ago I rescued a Taylormade M2 3 wood from being tossed at the recycling center. Last year I raved about how much I liked it and a buddy gave me a M2 4w 22*. Been using it in select situations and really like it too. Now Im looking for a lightly used M2 driver to replace the odd assortment of drivers Ive aquiered over the last 5 years. Doesnt hurt that its a favorite of some - https://youtu.be/kDcciFvrc3Y?si=yHD9agF07LP4PkI4.

Last year got paired up with an old timer. He suggested I get some larger medium sized grips. At that time I had not even know that there were differant sized grips. So, last week one of the guys I got paired with was using them as well, Said he thought it helped his control. Thinking this may be like fat skis.
    What say you pros ?

Played 9 today for the first time in 10-15 years. 2metal, 8iron, putter. Used to break 40 when I could play.

Surprised I could.hit the ball somewhat. Free private course included w work gig. Chicka friend likes to play. Her and trump could play well together, cheating almost constantly..

Played 9 with my golf buddy Syl and I was able to hit enough good flop shots, knock down 50-150 yd 5I runners, and make some putts for a 41. No doubles. Yay. Would have liked to have done 18 but Syl can't play 18 anymore. We got paired with a single who said he was playing with crypto for a job when I asked what he did. He explained it to me with a "Let me give you the scoop in a way your generation will understand." Still sounded like an Amway pitch or something the Mob would have loved to do instead of running numbers.

Spent last week as a marshal at the Open Championship in Portrush, N.I. I&#39;ve been there three times before, all in November, and have some amazing friends there who helped make it happen. It was incredible. We were assigned the practice area, range/short game/putting, so saw pretty much every player each day. I&#39;ve never seen such a town built for a golf match, amazing infrastructure. I&#39;ll try to post pics, yeah right...</p>

Played in the Wed 9 hole 2 man BBall Chooseups last week. Checked off a bucket list item and had my 14 yo grandson caddy for me. A caddy is the only way to golf. Made par on the 9th hole for a net 3 1/2 to win the competition by 1/2 a stroke. $100 for the team $50 for me. My caddy doesn't golf but he loved the $10 I paid him to tote the bag and his $5 share of the winnings.

Ive been playing a set of old clubs from a buddy for the past 10 years. Theyre fine, and ive always wavered between the mid eighties to low nineties depending on how often ive been playing that year (2 - 20+ rounds each year). With MTB not an option anymore due to long term injury, i decided i should upgrade so i set a budget of $1k, went and got fitted and came out with a new Ping G440 driver and 3 wood (holy sticker shock). Coming from a 15yr old driver, the difference was astounding... i was mashing mishits about as far as my best drives previously, i was hitting piercing drives instead of backspinners , and my typical slices ended up just being aggressive fades. The new technology made a huge improvement in my game first round out... pretty crazy difference. Has me wondering if a new set of irons would make a big difference too.
