There are quite a few young pros at my club that are honorary members. They have to be nice to the regular members and they’re all great guys. I ask them about hybrids and club tech stuff and it’s always the same. Whatever works without any hesitation.
I’m still amazed at how many old amateur guys are still using 120g stiff shafts in long irons.
Birdied both of the front par 3s (20' putt and a chip in) for a 38 and thought for a moment I had a shot to shoot my age. Ha! Bogeyed 10 - 17 and finished 18 with a 2 put Other for a 48. Felt 6 or 8 quality swings so the work is paying off.

Punched two weeks ago and healed. No complaints. Been faster but fast enough to respect downhill chips and putts. Hit a solid 2nd shot 9I that had altitude on the 10th. Landed 1' onto the green and rolled downhill to the back against the 2nd cut. Bogey train begins.

I went down to practice yesterday, and they were rolling great!
I am not sure what it is about the 10th, but I rarely play it well. A conservative tee shot is usually followed by being way right, threading a needle between trees, over the crap at the bottom of the hill.
I am headed to Palm Springs with a group in early November. Stoked to get away. I've never been there.
Day 1: Indian Wells (Players)
Day 2: Mission Hills North (Gary Player)
Day 3: Double at Indian Wells
Day 4: La Quinta (Dunes Course)
Day 5: PGA West (Greg Norman)
I did not plan any of this, just along for the ride. Assume that's a solid lineup? Any recommendations for must hits in the area? (food\entertainment)
Looking at that 5 day itinerary makes me realize, I better get to the range again to build up the backs ability to play multiple days in a row...
Those are all nice courses but there’s a certain similarity to desert golf so don’t expect dramatic differences. Thats a lot of golf
My 40th HS reunion is today so yesterday a couple of golf team guys and some other folks got together and played our old home course. It really is a beautiful bay front course but it got hammered 12 years ago in hurricane Sandy when it was 4 feet underwater. That 547 yard hole still kills me and the one with a long carry over salt water still fucks with my head. I'm learning something today though...
I hadn't played in a few years so went and did a quick 9 on Monday to work out the kinks. I felt like shit on Tuesday. Couldn't get out to loosen up again and just dove in yesterday. Ooh boy, where do some of these muscles get off feeling so sore today! I hope I can hold the steering wheel to get to the place tonight to have some of those drinks I already paid for![]()
I say why not ,

been frequenting the new simulator place in town as of late. so fucking fun and pretty cheap for 18 with a foursome. can play most any iconic course in the world. the auto putt option really suits my game. then there are the long drive and closest to the pin challenges. also really fucking fun.
sandy claus brought me a 2 iron last week. good riddance, 3 wood. should've made the switch a long time ago.
now it is time to replace the shaft on the 5 iron i broke yesterday and upgrade the whole set. can anyone speak to p790s?
swing your fucking sword.

Iron
?
Winter sim time is a great opportunity to make swing changes w/out the pressure of posting a score. Just a WAG but you need to flatten your downswing plane, likely you are OTT. It's easier to get away w the OTT move w irons, but I assure you in the long run your iron play will be better, as well as woods, if you take care of your swing fault(s) before spending 5-10-20 years further ingraining your current move.

I got a callaway paradym ai [emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji639]] wood and a paradym mini driver. $$$ in the bank!
Also started installing my own iron shafts. It took a few try’s but I found a perfect match. UST ESX [emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji639]][emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]]] wedge shaft R-flex. I use it [emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]]-gw so it’s somewhat hard stepped but I can’t really tell.
Titleist coming out with a mini driver this year.
So much for selling my irons and upgrading

Had a decent year on the links.Started having fun playing again so that’s huge. Closed the year out with a couple rounds in South Africa so now I have another golf trip to start saving for. On the equipment front, playing on rentals made me interested in playing regular shafts instead of stiff. Sure felt like I launched the ball higher and hit everything all around better.
Got to play the Butte CC today, oldest course in Montana, established 1899. Many consider this their favorite course in the state.
