    Lake Louise + wind!

Damn I love what wind does to this place. The coverage is awesome since all the snow that was rain for so many others. It never really rained much here and very little up high. OTOH the warm temps made the recent snow pretty goopy and that has now firmed up as daytime highs are -3C mtn top. Yesterday there was a wee bit of snow apparently and today Mucho wind thanks to a Chinook coming through.

That wind scours that snow off so you couldn't see new snow on the front and then it dumps it all in one place. Whitehorn 1 was spec fuckin' tacular. Flat as hell with a fresh bit of wind compacted soft schmoo and awesome coverage. Swedes was loading in so each run was fresh tracks in more compacted schmoo. Getting on down to treeline it got a bit crunchy in spots but functional. Whitehorn2 is open over to D gully now. Didn't ski it as I hear it's still bony at the top.

Best news is the head avie forecaster says there is a system supposed to move through in the next 48 hours. Here we go again, WEEEEEEEE!!

    Thank god.

I took a trip up there on saturday. We spent about 3hours on the kiddie hill playing on the fourpack of rollers trying 3's and 180's. I finally learned how to do threes (sorta).

We took a trip down ER7 and christ wasit heinous. Flat light and set-up debris made for ankle breaking conditions. On the flipside, the top half of outerlimits was sweet as was brownshirt.

That forecast with +3 and rain is not making me feel comfortable.
Recently overheard: "Hey Ralph, what were you drinking that time that you set your face on fire?"

From what I've seen, brownshirt CHUTE is always schweet. It stayed fluffy for 5 days straight.

Rocket wasn't talking about temp, I don't think it's a concern. They cheaped out and only link the weather to the Banff site these days. It definitely seems chinook and that just doesn't seem to take the temp up at elevation for whatever reason.

I'm going with the FUCKING BRRRRIIIINNNNGGGG ITTTT!

    option.

Finally back like a moth to a flame. Life in cube-land really cuts back on the board. Anyway, yesterday was pretty decent. Skied Whitehorn 2, and there were a few rocks (mostly about half-way down), but not bad. The hikeable area above Brownshirt was quite nice as well. First experience with the wind-effect at the Lake. ME LIKE!

Don't you have school issues? Up again today and a tad crunchier for some reason. I think the wind swirled and blew up hill through the night and scoured things a wee. Still did a bunch of laps on Paradise and it was good. Light was OK but getting dim and the snow was a bit more work but still good skiing.

Demo at 'the mighty Quay' the next 2 days.

1 foot of snow on the ground in Banff this morning and I get to go to Edmonton. At least I got to enjoy the morning shovelling of the lane.

Really?!! Not reporting that much up at sunshine or Louise. Good to hear it's falling out there. I'm trying to line up a trip out that way tomorrow.

Sorry to hear about the Edmonton trip.

That's why I mentioned in Banff specifically. i thought it could be upslope but as I drove out and now in Cochrane there is much less snow so not upslope I guess. I think it came quick early this morning so it might just be a matter of updating snow reports.

At least you’re visiting Edmonton and not living here! But it’s been snowing all day so I’m sure it’s going off at snow valley…..

true, very true, BUT I got an A on my first midterm after having only gone to half my classes, so I feel that it would be an advantage to my academic situation to stay happy and carefree (as I have been) by making a trip home...

haha, jk. I am going to jackson hole in 7 days... can't complain.

Yep, only a small amount by the 6:30 a.m. snow reports, but I think that's when it started puking big time at the hills. I made it up to Sunshine around 1 p.m., after the road finally re-opened, and it was deep. Still coming down real hard when I left at 4.

Pic in the parking lot at the end of the day:

Tomorrow may almost make up for the fact I won't be able to attend the JH Summit after all.

Yea that shot brings tears to my eyes here in Edmonton, and not in a good way. That's fine I'll be back and there will be good skiing.
