Edit: I was wrong (maybe). I now think it’s JT but not sure.

Probably not, as I think skijunky was still in college at that point and just doing the ski club JH TR's (or was just out of college)

Caught the MSP premiere of Land of Giants last night. The drone work is incredible, some of the best captures of spine skiing I've seen. Quite a few segments on foot, too, which was cool.

I know this is from 10 months ago, but it's so damn good. If you haven't seen it it's a must watch. Like an TGR movie, it's got so much more than just incredible skiing.

I got to see Mountain State 2.0 this past week at the Salmon QST film fest. Pretty sweet line up of films with a NICE! "The Fifty: Polar Star" episode. Ski porn is better on the big screen with other stokers in the Audience.

Check it out if it comes to your town:

Hyper Focus is everything I hate about ski movies. Awesome skiing, but self-indulgent ski-bro talking about how rad he is.

Tell me why you turned away from a line because it was too risky. That's the dialogue I want to hear.

I don't care why you turned away from drinking because it wasn't enough. I don't care about your choices for sobriety.

This is not a diss on Teton Brown by any means. Tell your story. But this isn't fucking AA. Or, maybe it is for you. And if this is AA for you, then hats off. I can't think of a better greeting to enter AA.

^^^I with ya...kinda. Tell your story. It is one of the beauties of YouTube. But it just seemed a bit too made for clicks. The stew of ski towns, partying, substance use and abuse, skiing as being both healthy and unhealthy escapism and all that is very real. To distill that down to "I got hammered at the Cowboy Bar, woke up the next day hung to fuck and decided to get of the sauce for ski season" is a bit of a simplification and does a disservice to challenge of it all.

But the skiing is 110% rad. Just turn of the volume and do your Leg Blasters or Yoga with Adrienne.

I really enjoyed "Land of Giants" but the film, like all ski porn, gets redundant after a while.

I was a little surprised that there was no shout out sort of tribute to Robb Gaffney. I don't know, maybe I missed it, but thought there'd be a little something. I know the film tour dropped prior to Robb's passing, but at least the MC could have made a shout out to Robb.
