Last year, I bought my Slayer. Because of that, I was more stoked to go ride new places than I've been since. That, and like most of the Rockies, we were enjoying a long and snowing winter that went well into May.
I wanted out to go pedal. In reading some beta, trading some PMs with some maggots and wanting some desert; Vernal it was.
Because I'm stoked to go riding tomorrow and I'm stoked for bike season, I'm sharing last June's stoke. Sprockets can never have too much stoke, right?
STOKE
After the long slog through Wyoming and some torrential rains, we made it to Red Fleet campground. This was our camp spot:
Obligatory vehicle stoke shot:
This was our view:
So was this:
With the sun setting, we went for a hike:
Yah ... the photo ops were pretty good, I guess:
Turns out we could have brought our climbing gear and done some top roping:
Lots of this hiding all over. It is the desert, right?
Oh ... this is a bike TR? Right, about that.
The view from the 3 Amigos trail:
Where 3 Amigos gets its named, I think?
Perpetually 12 years old:
The terrain varied wildly, but was so fun:
More action:
What's a TR without some carnage?
Full-on blow-out while riding Jazzy. Turns out Stan's can and does eat out the inside of a tire. Low tread depth helps:
Some duct tape and new tube, and we were off like a prom dress:
Out riding McCoy Flats, my front derailleur cable decided to explode. Adding insult to injury, it was Sunday, so nothing was open. And, we were riding Retail Sale. I was about to leave the bike in this heap:
The next day we headed out to try and ride the Flume trail. The run off was so severe, it was a no go. Even the trail that paralleled the road looked like this:
More scenery pr0n ...
Dawn over Red Fleet Reservoir:
Greybird above camp:
Now, go ride your bikes, damnit!
