Shit, that's about the price here. I think it's like $7 something in the liquor store next to my place

    Thumbs up

Perfect, I just finished out the last of my Sierra Nevada celebration stash. Time to stock up on something new.
I've concluded that DJSapp was never DJSapp, and Not DJSapp is also not DJSapp, so that means he's telling the truth now and he was lying before.

Flat Tire is overrated. Sunshine Wheat is piss water. But with a nice fruity finish.

With so many killer CA and OR beers to chose from, if you waste your time with New Belgium beers you are a ________ (insert favorite variation of "choad" here)

It's not opinion, my friend, it's a fact. CO beer isn't as good as CA or OR beer.

They've definitely invaded. Every bar on Main st. in Ventura has fat tire ales and tons of posters and whatnot. They even sell it at the kwiki mart round tha cornah...though they don't have a squishee machine...odd.

Yeah man, New belgium would barely register with me if I lived in Cali. How about Stone, or Bear Republic? Now that's some beer.

Rogue, Full Sail, Widmer, Terminal Gravity (IPA now in bottles ) for Oregon.

Lagunitas is a good Cali brewery.

Definitely Widmer, the Deschutes Brewery, and Bridgeport IPA is really good. My current personal favorite is Mac & Jack's African Amber... but it's only on tap in the Seattle area (and pdx a bit) as far as I know, and they don't bottle it.

I forgot Lagunitas, great brewery. Isn't AleSmith from california too? You really gotta try your local stuff, don't even worry about colorado, PNW stuff until you get a handle on your own scene, it's a spectacular place for beers.

http://www.ratebeer.com will have a listing of liquor stores around you that carry the good stuff.

hmm, I actually think Cali has crappy beers..I would much more prefer the variety of CO beers..OR has some good ones..I like a few of the boulder and tommy knocker beers as well as many others I haev only had one time while passing though somewhere.

Yes, Fat tire was in Mammoth this fall..also try Alaskan beers..their Amber is excellent, as is their winter brew and porter. Found at Bev and more as well as most lcoal grocers (mainly the Amber). Mammoth Brewing Co. has a good amber ale..(can you tell I like amber and red ales?)

Yes, trader Joes is the best place for cheap different/new/regional beers..

Anyone heard of Trinity red ale out of Chicago? I am kinda hooked on it lately..only $4.99 at TJ's.

Theres a mini-brewery in Sierra Madre that has some really good beers..also, I really like BJ's Jeramiah Red..

The Amber explains it - well known West Coast beers are usually ales or hefes.

    Saranac Oktoberfest. Mmmmm

well, you're talking 3 states..I would hope they would outnumber one state?

Cali is what I am referring to more than anything here, the selection just isn't really that good and the stuff that is good is not very accessible..unless you want to go to BEVMO, which is rather pricey..and inconveninet for me.

If I have to settle for a Sierra Nevada again, I would ratehr have water!..although I do like their porter..

I also am not super impressed by Fat Tire or the Sunshine Wheat, though the New Belgium 1554 is high on my list.

SN makes two of the best beers in the world: Celebration and Bigfoot. A couple other great Cali breweries that haven't been mentioned yet are North Coast, Lost Coast and Anchor.

It's not that Fat Tire is bad, there's just nothing to differentiate it from about a dozen other vaguely "amber ales" on the market. Obviously New Belgium's marketing has been hugely successful, but I don't see anything that special about their beers.

Get the Biere de Mars in March when New Belgium does their limited run of it. You'll change your mind quick. Best damn beer I've ever had.
