    Tahoe bound... lodging recc's?

I know most of you will be at the Summit, but I'm going to be arriving Tahoe area Friday, Feb 4. Will be working my way to Mammoth for 2/7-12 condo stay and skiing. Hope to meet up with some mags who might be around!
Was thinking Squaw Sat 2/5 and KW on Sunday 2/6. Thinking it'll be best to get lodging in Tahoe City for Friday and Saturday nite.
Wondering if anyone's got some beta on decent motel accomodations at a reasonable rate? It'll be me and the wife (and another couple), so something clean and comfy (rather than rustic) is what we're looking for.
"But I don't want to go among mad people," said Alice. "Oh, you can't help that," said the cat. "We're all mad here."

Its about 10 mi up the road toward Nevada, but the Biltmore and Cal_neva casinos at Stateline sometimes have cheap ski/stay deals. They're older, but people I know have stayed there and say they're ok.

There's a ton of hotels in TC and nearby...Kings Beah, tahoe Vista etc. Don't know of one which is signifcantly better or a bargain compared to the rest.

If you want shoestring...the Travel Inn in SLT is $27 a nite. Its not the Hilton, but it's a clean bed and a hot shower. I believe we made our reservations on one of those online travel sites.

Thanks. I'd still like some beta on options more towards Tahoe City, if possible.
Since its a Friday and Saturday I'm looking for, am I better getting reservations now or am I OK just finding something when I get up there? Not too familiar with how booked out they typically are up there.

I believe that the cheapest place to stay in TC is the Travelodge.

    For a Fri/Sat I'd recommend booking ahead.
