OK so it's been hyped on several best of 2004 lists. Some of those lists are crap, but this album is actually pretty damn sick. Male and female vocalists, shades of the Talking Heads and XTC, well layered. Solid music. It's a winner. IMHO.

I bought it a couple weeks ago. I wasn't immediately taken, but it's starting to grow on me for sure.
Another one that's growing on me is Summer in Abaddon by Pinback.
love this album (all hype aside), its a pretty solid debut. and, they rock live, saw them @ GAMH in SF last month - amazing show.
my top 4 or 5 last yr: arcade fire, the futureheads (serious XTC overtones), wilco "ghost is born", the libertines and franz ferdinand and the killers....
Funeral's in heavy rotation in my mobile changer.

Anyone else hear a lot of Modest Mouse in that album? I dig it. Nice find, J.
It's idomatic, beatch.
I have it. It's good.
I have nothing to add.
Not too much, but I did hear a lot of The Cure's "Wild Mood Swings" on Modest Mouse' new album. Still good though.Originally Posted by Cornholio

Solid. I have no idea why I didn't buy this in the fall when it came out.
My morning wake up:

no matter what the time is.
Sleeping is giving in,
so lift those heavy eyelids."
