    According to this national weather service article:

    this year is a weak el nino year. The unusual west coast weather is driven by something called the Madden-Julian Oscillation or MJO.

    actually, it is the tsunamis. at least that is what a guy told me down in Costa Rica, trying to explain the unusually wet weather for their dry season.

    But seriously.. hiking through knee and waste deep slush in rain at treeline shortly after sunrise during early may on the Tenmile Range doesn't seem right.
