    SLC to resorts: transportation issue

Looking to fly into SLC on JetBlue. Flight arrives at 12:30 a.m. Canyons Transportation only runs until midnight.

    1. Does public transportation still run at that hour?

    2. Should I just suck it up and rent a car? And if I man up for the rental, will I need a 4WD if I am trying to get to Solitude?

    Thanks in advance.
Charlie, here comes the deuce. And when you speak of me, speak well.

I know a guy who has a car service that he runs to Solitude, $65 each way for first two people $10 apiece after that, let me know if you want his number. Woodsy knows him too.

edit: Actually, since I ran my wallet through the wash last week I don't have his number but Woodsy does.

Ice - thanks so much for the quick reply. Much appreciated.

The trigger hasn't been pulled yet because of this high pressure that looks like it might be settling down on Utah over the next 2 weeks.

i take that flight all of the time and take canyon transportation up to both alta and the bird. not sure why you got that answer from canyon. only risk is the road being closed if its dumping.

A warning; if you are looking for any form of powder day, do not buy a ticket to come to SLC in the next 8 to 10 days. We have a little storm today, and another one on Saturday night, then it looks like at least another week before another storm comes in.

However, if you do come in that time frame, you most certainly will not need a 4wd to get up the canyons...

A taxi will take you there for probably a 40 dollar flat rate.

I've had Canyon stick me with $75 ride when I was solo the last ride up late at night. Just have a cheap rental reserved just in case. For two days its about the same cost.

How many times do I have to tell you that if you want to launder your money, just send it to me? When will you ever learn?

    Exclamation

Transportation sucks monkey balls. Alta Ski Shuttle is way better, the Lodge I work for in Alta reccommends them over Canyon.

I can agree with you on that, Canyon Transportation is not nearly as good as Alta Shuttle.

The Late "Big Bob" (owner/founder who just passed away this weekend) of Alta Ski Shuttle was one of the nicest people that I have ever known, that passed on his kindness to his employees. The Rustler Guests loved him and the other Alta Shuttle drivers.

His wake was party, the way he wanted it, lots of fun remembering him. The Best "Big Bob" line in his will was, telling his employees to not all take the day off, because he did not want to Canyon Transportation extra business.

Most People who have stayed or worked in Alta probably ran into him, and he was a character nobody could ever forget with his kindness and excellent humor.

    God Bless Big Bob,

    Todd
