    Dog wheelchairs

Anyone have any experience with these? Recommendations on brands? Tips on getting my dog to adjust? Anything in particular to look out for?

My dog's hind legs have been weak for a while, but they're really giving way lately and we are looking seriously at getting him a wheelchair. He is pretty healthy and in good spirits otherwise, and as long as that's the case I'd like to keep him going and make the rest of his life as comfortable as possible.

They can work great and dogs adapt to them pretty well. It is important to get a good fit, which takes a little experience. If you have a vet specialty hospital near enough by, go talk to the surgeons and staff, they will have the most experience with the various types of carts. The most common on is K9 Carts, but there are a couple other companies. I rarely do the fitting since I refer such cases to the local surgeons who have a lot more experience then me. A lot depends on size.

If you don't have anybody near enough send mea PM and can get some info from my surgeon buddies.

I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...

Awesome, thanks hustash, might definitely take you up on that when the time comes.

We went to see the vet today and apparently my dog's legs didn't totally give out, he actually had a minor stroke. She said he should recover back to normal over the next few weeks so fingers crossed. I'm going to keep reading up on the wheelchair though as Bagel is approaching 15 years old now and his hind legs are still his biggest health issue.
