    I just got a job at A(LT)A!!!

    WOOOHOOO!!!
This morning I wake up to a call from someone at Alta lodge saying that although she has no openings currently, she would still like to meet with me. Thats all good and everything, but I really need work, like right faking now. I set up an appointment for 10:00 am tommorow morning. Ten minutes later I get a call from the manager of einstein bagels asking if I'd like to start wednesday afternoon at 2:00. "Sounds good" I say, and although I'm pretty sure most bagel joints don't come with a pass, I'm quite sick of bologna. So later today I go to Barnes and Noble and am in my usual routine of wasting a day without spending any money and pissing around on the internet (wireless internet for $20.00 a month is a pretty good deal) when I get a call from Alta. "Alta lodge?" I ask, realizing that I already have an interview
"No, this is Alta ski area"
    "Oh, right right...well hi!"
"I was wondering if you were still interested in working up here." (I applied about 2 weeks ago and had kinda given up)
    "What? Yes! Absolutely!"
"Ok, well is there a time when we could meet?"
    "Anytime! I'm not really doing..."
    "Well, how about today?"
    "Great!"
"alright so I'll see you in a bit"
    "Yes! wow...thanks a lot!!"
So I go up, meet with her, and 10 minutes later I'm signing W4's and getting shown around. Ok, so i'll be washing dishes (at Watson's) but I'm completely stoked out of my gord right now. I AM NOW AN EMPLOYEE OF ALTA! damn, my parents must be proud.

BTW, while in the office I overheard some very official sounding report that there will be accumulation on friday and saturday. HURRAY!!!

Work is either in the morning or afternoon, so going 5 days a week = 20hrs. Pretty fantastic. Oh, and whoever it was who left his job to work on mountain at the bird, congratulations and I owe you a beer.

But we don't refer to people as 'it', so we win. Besides, I think 'Ahhhhhh-lta' is appropriate.

Gotta agree with the ECer's, don't put the blame of the Utah accent on anyone but them. I for one will always say "All-Ta", if for no other reason than to see peoples head turn sideways when I say it and they ask me 'Where?". (I then point at my hoody and explain that there is a little ski resort up at the end of LCC, people have been skiing there for a while, bla, bla, bla....)

PacRim, Congrats, we'll see you around the hill.
"People blame me because these water mains break, but I ask you, if the
water mains didn't break, would it be my responsibility to fix them then?
    WOULD IT!?!"

    Mayor of Washington, DC
