Semi-Pro Video Camera for making a film?

I know nada/zip/zero about making a movie but Im going on some exotic trips the next coming months and would like to make a small movie about it so im looking for a semi professional videocamera. I can spend up to 3K and up for buying used stuff. I have already a Nikon D700 and a Hero2 but as stated need a real videocamera. Please give a Photo/video jong some advice.

    Cheers

Sell the D700 and pool your money to buy a D3s. No need to carry two cameras.

All I'll say then is don't use a DSLR.

Something that shoots at least 720/60p would be good. Luckily that's pretty much everything.
