Thoughts on the Creek Co. ODC XR 12? My father in law is on the verge of picking 1 up. He lives In MN so he won't be venturing onto anything too crazy. Looks like a good boat and reviews look good but thought I'd ask...looks perfect for hooking into some smallmouths on some medium sized rivers in the land o' 10,000 lakes. Anyone with any experience on a Creek Co. set up?
I bought an XR12 around this time last year. Fished it down the Upper CO a few times as well as the Lower Blue (Jurassic Park). Pretty sweet boat for the money. Super nimble, no problem running it through Class III water. It does get blown around a bit in the wind but that would be expected given the weight. Only issue I've had is a broken lean bar after hitting a rock on the CO. Creek Company came through with a replacement. Great customer service.
Plan on spending an extra $150-200 or so on swivel seats, drink caddies, extra oar, patch kit, etc.
