I don't like using the laces. I find the liner stays centered enough during the walk mode to not justify needing them, for me. I have never used laces in my liners, though.

I'm scared to grind off the nub.

The guy who ground off the nub also replaced the tongues with some raichle's which gave the boot a more progressive flex

I finally made my stock liners feel ok on the descent. I was having a lot of pressure on the top of my instep and discovered after two heat molds that the problem was the elastic patch on top of the foot that keeps the tongue down. I seam ripped the whole piece out and problem was solved. Doesnt seem to be too much of a inconvenience without it.

Skialpy are you talking about that 4" long black piece (with a 1" piece of elastic ) that is stitched to the top of the liner toe?

that sounds reasonable to me, the edge of the 4" black piece and the seam of the liner are stacked right where they bug my foot

Chugachied are you talking about grinding off the nub on the removable tongue or the flex stops on the cuff?

nub on the tongue is probably not a biggy flex stops more so of a biggy

and the boot might be too soft without a stiffer tongue

The nub that centers the tongue, to ease insertion and removal.

I'm not referring to the clitoris, I've found that once or twice.

Had mine on the hill for the first time today, man these things are stiff in a good way. Felt super precise and locked in laterally. Walk mode is amazing compared to my Cochise 130. Used Marker lords on my skis with no issues. Haven't heat formed the liners yet, think I will only spot form them over instep.

careful Rob Ford was stripped of his mayoral powers over this kind of comment

BUT Skialpys comment IS most interesting and I could see that taking that piece off the liner helping to make the liner feel better, I might be into it if I hadn't already given up on the stock liner for power wraps

That's exactly my alpine setup this year. How's the Vulcan in the Lord SP? Is there enough toe height adjustment in the binding to accommodate the Vulcan?
Word is there isn't quite enough clearance. I have yet to mount mine and see though.

I got a pair of Mercurys in size 30 which are a bit too big for me but were cheap, I've used them for a season but feel like i could do with a tighter fit. Do you think a high volume size 29 intuition liner would fit the shell and give a tighter fit or will they be too small? Or any other suggestions?

Exactly, the seams land right on the top of the metatarsal head (i think thats what its called??) causing a lot of pain when the middle buckle is clamped down. I may try cutting up some elastic and stitching it in a different orientation to keep the tongue down . Currently having to push the tongue down each time I take the boot off.

Lord seems to work, not the space your suppose to have, but I can move AFD back and forth with my fingers with boot in binding. Seems like it functions fine. I will get em tested when I have the time and report back.

Thanx for that ^^ so does the seam unpick without unraveling any other stitching?

I've seen it on the interwebs a couple of times. Bound to happen with all the leverage required to close the buckle. I usually try to flex the boot back and forth while closing the upper buckle. Takes a lot less power to get it closed.

Same --- the guys who did it yanked on the buckle when the two black plastic flaps in the front of the boot got tangled up

Ouch. That's never happened to me but I do carry a strap/peg thingy to do a field repair if it did.

How did that happen? Per Lee, when I was a TLT5 noob I felt some undue forces when I failed to get the flaps in the right place so I never did that again. Also per rewbn it helps to flex forward a bit. Also, snugging things up with the power strap before pulling the cuff buckle can reduce the force necessary to get past the cam point. I think smooth pull, not yank, to get over the cam point.
