    newbies

Dude, the line on looker's left of your pic (running down the ridge and into White Bark) is the true Star Chute. Scooter Pie is the windrifty line further looker's right.
I know, I know, all the newbies that just moved here call the one around the corner Star Chute, but they're wrong. The run next to Philipe's is Kiwi Flats, named in honor of John Armstrong, a New Zealander who was the first to drop it back in the day. He's been the director of the race dept for years.
Intrawest may rename shit on the trail map (Beyond the Edge? WTF?), gapers may confuse things, but everything on the hill has a name, and many runs are named for real people (Agee's, Scotty's, Philipe's, Dave's).

Now I've got a quiz for you-
    Where on the mtn are:
    Visalia Bowl
    Cauliflower Chute
    Condo Chute
    Gorilla Gulch
    Z-Chute?

UH Dude... never said anything about star chute being in that pic? Scooter pie, roadrunner and dos pasos are all in there. I've been skiing mammoth since I was 10, lived there from 91-98.Yeah, and John Armstrong runs the race dept,so what? Visalia is next to Fresno bowl on the back of the hill. Z chute is over by the Hole (Twin Lakes). The others I have never heard of,I must be out of the loop or too old or as you put it "a confused gaper"

Chill- nobody's attacking you or your personal radness- really just trying to make the point that a lot of people are confused about Star Chute, and continue the Mammoth obscure run trivia game started by the snowman.
Luckily you moved before we got intrawested... because there are a lot more confused gapers here than there was in 98.

That is the true answer. Funny I thought no one would nail that one down.

Chill is right, this all just for fun.....

Late I am headed up the street to make some turns now.

PS I will work on getting some pics of:
    Visalia Bowl
    Cauliflower Chute
    Condo Chute
    Gorilla Gulch
    Z-Chute?

    snow ya soon.

    cauliflower is good for you

this line hasn't really been filled like this since 98.
have heard it called cauliflower (for the rime ice formations) by vets, but there are several sub-lines on this face- anybody heard any other names?

You know, it really doesn't matter what the names of things are between strangers. As long as your buddies know what you are talking about, that's all that matters.
I doubt that's even a real picture of the real star....

    Keep it real.

Does anyone else think it's funny that two guys with a combined 10 posts are all up in each other's greeel?

As for the run names - what the hell is that little chute called above Wazoo? I know dudes that grew up in town that didn't know that one. I think it's better if you don't know the name. I don't want to be talkin' about how I straightlined ________, and have some dude in the line at G2 know what the hell I'm talking about. Sometimes it's good to be wrong.

    Wow

This was a game to have fun with and show that everybody has a name for the runs not on the trail map. Funny I have been flamed and phoned because of this post. Some people should just relax.

    PS:
Its snowing here in Mammoth this am I am going to try and get some freshies on The Jack Mack run!

You guys should come to Kirkwood sometime. There are so many different names for things even the maggot crew can't agree on stuff. Basically, we've all given up and just go ski.

"It's not "TOMMIES" it's "TOMMY's". It's the one below the ridge that merges with "Don't Do it".
"That's not "DON'T DO IT". That's Pamela- because it goes down on Tommy"
    FLMAO!
I know a Tom and a Pam who are dating each other right now...

Plus my wife freaked out on "Don't do it" over the w/e...damn she frustrates me.

Could there be another "D" in D's future?

    peace,
    BS.

The Veggie Chutes- Asparagus, Broccoli & Cauliflower; as you head down the ridge. Or as for mentioned, "That really cool little chute next to the one hardly anyone skis over on Chair *!".
