    AT Karma

Well it looks like my G4's are gonna have to be retired to rock skis at the end of the year, I can see the core through the P-Tex on one tail and the edges are gettin thin

so I'm going to start looking for replacments, I'm definately staying in the Volkl line since I have a hook up there. I tried out the 724 Pro and its a worthy candidate, but I'm also going to take a long look at the Karma, but I'm not sure that a 177 is going to be enough ski given that its a true twin. Both the Pro or the Karma would be mounted with freerides if I can verify to myself that they're going to be bomber enough to ski everyday(only skied them one run since the remount). I've read a lot of threads about the Karma but noone seems to have them mounted AT, is it because of the twintips ability to hold skins? Or is the T-rock a better touring ski? I'd like to stay away from the T-rock since it won't be as stiff as the Karma and since whatever ski I do get will only be used for OB shots and shorter tours weight isn't important to me.

don't neccesarally need float on the ec, my g4's were fine so going from 83 to 87 should be plenty, plus I have exploders should I need more float

Don't worry about skins and twin-tips. It's a non-issue. I have skins on my Gotamas with no problems. The T-rock is slightly softer and lighter with a more rounded flex that the Karma. If you like how the Karma skis, buy it.

thats part of my problem, I'm probably not going to have a chance to demo the ski before I buy it, I thought they might have it at the Whiteface demo day but the fattest thing they had was the 724 Pro. I've had no luck finding a demo at a shop either but maybe I'm not looking in the right places.

I took a couple runs on them as well last saturday and I liked them a lot. They were a really really smooth ski, easy to turn, quite stable and the float was quite good (although we only had about 10 " on a hardbase).

Just for comparison sakes. i'm 165, normally ski the B2's in 182 and found the 177 Karma to be a good size so I'd suggest the next size up for you. If you are looking at purchasing check out www.sportsliquidator.com Gin bought his from them at a decent price.

you need the 185 don't you think?

six feet and 235 seems too big for an effective edge of somewhere arount 172. but maybe you like em stubby? i dunno.

i pretty much agree with traininvain. stop thinking about it. your quiver plotting is almost at an ocd level.

gincognito = featherwieght on Karmas = no excuse for my lack of flippy-spinny steeze .

Picked up the 177 at sportsliquidator (as Mit mentioned) but they might not have many left. Definitely a very smooth ski and gave me no significant problems on hardpack groomers or softer glades. I had 'em mounted with Ti912 and the weight seemed pretty reasonable (lighter than my Head im75's with Tyrolia Cyber 8 bindings anyhow).

link is to my thinning quiver thread in Gear Swap which won't work anymore because I'm a Stupid JONG

I was considering the AC 4 but with the integrated binder issues I'm shying away from it since I want to put freerides on whatever I do wind up getting.

Why'd you delete the tread? Was it my savvy, sweet talking? You know you want to sell the G4s...dooo eeeet!

I agree... Freeski mag said just go for the 177 for most people and after buying the 177's I can attest to the fact they were correct.

At 235 and 6 foot i would seriously think about going 185. If you want I will measure my skis and see if they are measured tip to tail flat against ski or running length. Someone else should already know.

I also have 912TI's mounted at the recommened location and they are not too heavy, and swing pretty good in the air - but since your mounting tele and not jibbing this probably doesnt apply.

Demo man...demo if you have doubts. What state are you in? Surely there is a maggot near by with karmas.

185 for sure. I'm 185lbs and ski the 185 Karma in a tele setup. They are easy to ski, like to make short to medium radius turns, and are very quick. I can't imagine having them any shorter.
