March storms all had high snow levels, that's why it is so thin at the base. Lots of snow up high, the big mountains are plastered.

hmmmm. so if I'm reading you right, you're saying that there should be still be a pretty good snowpack up high by the end of the month, though it would be touring and it would involve some possibly very sporty approaches? Is there some good touring terrain in the vicinity? (sorry if these questions make me appear to be a moran about skiing in ID, but I am)

Gary from the porch don't let the popular opinion of this wonderful place fool you. It was 70 here today and the skiing was fucking awesome. Forecast is to head back to more normal temps. Mountain closes this weekend but there will be top to bottom corn goodness for another month or two. Back country is also fucking awesome and will be for some time. I am busy burning as many bridges as possible this last week and I doubt my family will let me out of their sites by the time you may or may not come here but maybe some beers. Balls Deep and Fudgepack Sig can fuck themselves.
PS your trip sounds awesome, I 'll try and post some photos in your thread of what its looking like around here, there is plenty of snow to ski downhill on and plenty of dirt at town level

PSSS approaches no big deal, Galena summit is 8700 ft or some such elev.

Thanks buddy. I'm trying to make some tough decisions right now. The snow in the PNW is fucking great this year, and some yahoos @ alpental in WA are having some weird ass 210cm ski day (that I'd really love to hit with my 217's). Although you have made a great pitch for the skiing there at the end of the month, the sway of a bunch of retards on 210cm+ old school skis is very strong....

Yeah basically it will all be weather dependent, if it's sunny it will be awesome if it's raining it won't be awesome. Beauty of a longboard day is the weather is pretty much irrelevant and this time of year you may want to go with the sure thing. But if you are on your way to Jackson you might as well stop in for a easy (logistically) hike up Baldy and a few beers.

Thanks man, just pulled the trigger on the alpental thing. If I cruise through (this trip or any other) I will def get in touch. If you ever make it up north - mi casa su casa. the skiing doesn't suck here usually!

Thanks SG, but it looks like I'm going to spend a little extra time in the PNW. If things change, I'll send you & jaded a PM. Cheers!

I was so stoked on the trails and the surrounding mountains during my short visit there last summer. I thought it was pretty chill down there honestly. Those shots of ripping pow in the burn are awesome. Great thread, can't wait to get back any time of the year.

Did JL take the title this year? What was the course route?

Loc is indeed this years winner. Course started on top, zig-zagged across Christmas Bowl/Ridge, and finished at the bottom of Exhibition, followed by 9 holes at Bigwood. Solid turnout, and can't think of a more appropriate champion.

I stole this picture from yesterday off the internet, I think it may be Zach's:

I always like the vibe in you're Sun Valley threads.

What you guys lack in snowfall, you more than make up with such a great attitude.
