    Another heat rant....(Tahoe)

So I'm going up this weekend to cruise with my father and brother-in-law as they have never skied in Tahoe. Naturally, I have been tracking the weather and the temps....

I wasn't so worried because yesterday at 8700 ft it was still in the 40's...

    Then I saw this:

    Wed Jan 19 17:08:38 2005

Hourly data from along the Sierra Crest
near Lake Tahoe. Elevation: 8700 Feet
Collected by the National Weather Service - Reno NV

    MN DY Hour Temp Wind
    Dir Speed Gust
    1 19 1700 49 0 8 13
    1 19 1600 50 0 8 14
    1 19 1500 54 0 9 17
    1 19 1400 56 0 9 15
    1 19 1300 57 0 7 15
    1 19 1200 58 0 6 9
    1 19 1100 57 0 4 8
    1 19 1000 56 0 4 12
    1 19 0900 51 0 8 14
    1 19 0800 50 0 9 15
    1 19 0700 49 0 12 19

    58 F at 8700 ft? WTF?

OK, so we haven't had tons of rain like other places so it won't be that bad...

...but it won't be that good either.

Would you like some cheese with that whine?

It can't be a powder day every day guy. The skiing has been great the past few days, enjoy the corn and quit your bitching.

    Thumbs up

T-shirt skiing, Big-breasted babes in bumps, tailgating in the parking lot in flipflops and shorts while we barbecue some burgers and dogs, ice cold cans of PBR. Nothing like spring skiing in January

Hmm, I bet Chez Subaru will be quite hospitable by then! Count me in as a definite "maybe".

I agree. You've been absolutely blessed so far this season if you're anywhere near Tahoe.

Speaking on behalf of the northeast, most of the northwest, and most of B.C., please shut the fuck up you brat!

this january thaw happens every year so make the best of it, damnit!!!! personally i'm stoked to ski some corn on some south facing lines that usually are not filled in enough, but are right now. blue sunny skies, dogs charging, fatties burning, steep velvety bowls and couloirs, hot summit block rocks to kick back on up top, and ice cold beers at the car. yeah, spring skiing sucks

    Thanks!

Hey hardrider, I know you have other distractions at the moment. But since you and I are both on the DL right now, I say we go on a serious bender. Or I'll go on the bender and you can just pick me up out of the gutter in the morning. Either way works for me. Looooooosing my miiiiiiiiiinddddddd!!!!!!

We have been spoiled indeed, as tempting as spring skiing sounds. I’ve got the urge to hop on the mountain bike again, so I’m headed to Henry Coe for some of that endless downhill single track action this weekend on nice tacky trails.

Those weather observations were indeed true. The 'wood was beautiful yesterday for spring conditions. It was prolly about 50 or so all day with no wind about. Conditions were good if you followed the sun around.

Of course, I just got here 2 days after the storm cycle, and it looks like I'll be out about 2 days before it resumes - bitches!
