Honestly, if Brandon could give me that job year round I'd really think about heading back.

It was a good job for skiing while the schedule was 3 10s one week and 4 10s the next week.... it was tough on my relationship with my girlfriend and I have had issues with sleep schedules and circadian rhythm ever since. It was a terrible job for skiing when the other night auditor quit and I ended up on the schedule for 6 or 7 10 hour night shifts a week for a few months straight. I didn't get a lot of skiing in when I was working 70 hours of night shifts....and I didn't feel very well when it was like that. But when the schedule was more reasonable it was much better.

Under the best of circumstances I always felt about 75% of normal...mentally...because of the sleep disruption.

On the upside, it's a quiet, contemplative job, you're right there for a free breakfast then first chair.

Oh and the driving...You need to be a good driver, have a good rig, and be relatively fearless because you're driving up BCC at 9-10PM, often into the traffic coming down from Brighton night skiing. Drunk 20 year old snowboarders all over the road coming downhill at you....swear to god. I saw many, many, many a wreck commuting to that job and made some heroic evasive maneuvers. When that line of stoned park kids is all over the road it can be a real pinball situation for that commute...plus you're the only car going up at that time of the night so they're never expecting oncoming traffic and yeah, they're in your lane a lot. Of course, sometimes it's 10 inches of untouched snow on the road and no traffic coming down and you're just rallying. I remember just having the truck sideways on every turn getting windshield shots a few different nights. Those are good times.

It's an interesting lifestyle, but certainly not for everyone.
