    9,000? Try 4,000.

A 9,000 foot mountain around boston would be a huge freaking glacier, with worse weather than the mountains up in labrador.

The foot of snow that Magic or Mt. Snow are gonna get would be nice, IF I DIDN'T HAVE TO DRIVE THROUGH 20 FUCKING INCHES JUST TO GET OUT OF TOWN!

20-25 inches in CT! VT is getting shit, CT and MA are the place to be for this dump. Top three choices based upon snowfall:

Butternut, a bit of a drive for me, but the closest somewhat legit hill. They seem to have a decent park w/ some nice kickers.

Ski Sundown - even closer, decent terrain park

Mount Southington - the closet to me, but not quite all that

Anyone else thinking of hitting CT or MA areas tomorrow? There's gonna be plenty of pure fluff to be had.

Southern VT is calling for up to 10 inches tonight with a couple more inches tomorrow. Should be our first "dump of the year.

    Aaahhh, our time has come!

Face shots and cold smoke this AM, thank you Mother Nature. I've now taken back all those mean things I said about you.

Hmmm. Now I have to choose.

Berkshire East: little vert. Flat. Much shorter drive (which will be crap) Possible more snow.

Magic: Much better terrain. Possibly less snow. Possibly heinous drive.

Just a guess, but even if you get to a mountain early, it may be closed due to wind. and really really cold temps.

agonizing over the decision right now to drive 3 hours (probably more) in snow to ski what should be nice fluffy pow, but probably not a copious amount, not to mention brutally cold and windy weather

It's totally dumping in the seacoast nh/me area right now (timecode: 3:05 PM EST 01/22/05)

I will be at Magic monday assuming at least a foot. Monday should be the day! warmer temps, less wind and not a soul in sight. FYI it started snowing in So VT about 5 minutes ago. This one didn't ease in either. Nice and strong from the start.

Where you hiking?? I assume you plan to ski?

As of right now I'm heading to Butternut in the Berkshires....it's puking in southern CT right now and I hope it does the same in lower MA.

Anyone else considering the Berkshires tomorrow? How's Butternut as a ski area? I've never been, but hear they have some moderately steep stuff that should be fun....

If you want to ski in that area better to go to Catamount. They are closed for night skiing tonight but will be open tommorrow and have three ungroomed trails.
    Insominia is my new hobby.

I'm not familiar with those areas at all....what state are we talking about? These areas are northeast BC or as close that we can come to BC terrain in the northeast? Do you tele down and skin up?? How's the terrain? Any pictures floating around??

BTW, despite my balls being very swollen from all the wisecracks and misdirection I received from you asshats, I was able to get my Stomps mounted up today. Thanks, I don't know I would have been able to do it without all of your support. They came out so nice that I am thinking of quitting job in software and possibly getting into mouting ski's full time.

James, are you talking about Butternut?? Three trails? I thought I saw on the website that they were at 100%....do they have anything that remotely resembles a tree run or glade at Buttnut? I am heading up tomorrow morning....I called them and they said that they would surely be open. If anything, I am happy they are closed tonight, that means more freshies for me when I grab first chair tomorrow morning.

Where is Catamount and how does it compare to the Buttnut?

Thanks Raps. I was just comparing the trail maps and I would say that the Nut does look a little better. Catamount is saying that they are going to leave 3 trails ungroomed though, and I hope the Nut leaves even more. Any tree action at either place?
