    surprising eh?

intellicast is calling for high of 3 and a low of -9 at stowe on saturday, and a balmy high of 4 and a low of -5 on sunday with some dynamite snow showers.

tomarrow is going to be the cold one at stowe at a low of -17.

-9 is so much more pleasing that -23, not too sorry i opted for the nancy stowe pass this year. i've had enough rides on the freezer in -20 degree weather to last me a really long time.

stowe is claiming 110 inches of snow so far this year with a 30-42 inch base. can that be real?

edit: especially compared to jays base depth of 12-24... and it seems jay took the "powdermeter" off their site. i cant find any info on total snowfall. maybe so many people acused them of blatant fabrication of snow totals that they just decided to stop reporting any total snow fall at all?

TRock and I will be at Cannon on Saturday for the telefest. I'm a tele virgin but looking forward to learning. I'm totally going to make an ass out of myself - and it'll be caught on film, most likely.

...we received one inch of FRRRRRRESSSSSSH POWDER overnight at jay peak!coupled with the 3 inches of FRESH POWDER from last week, there will be plenty of loose snow to kick around in the glades this weekend! JAY PEAK: MOST SNOW BEST GLADES! CONDITIONS TODAY WILL BE POWDER and hardpack, ice floes, bare patches, brambles, and loose granular

it is going to be sunny and in the twenties all weekend, because they show the thurs and mon temps in the teens and twenties, and then N/A's for friday sat, and sunday. that's what the jay website has led me to believe! i'm going to ski in a baseball hat this weekend! huzzah!

it was not too bad this a.m. at Smuggs. they got 2-3 inches, just enough to cover up the shit. But it was not tooooooo bad. I've skied worse. It was cold though. Single digits and a bit of wind.

Not sure if I am going to ski on Sat or not. I ahve to work and I'm not sure I want to freeze my ass off for two hours of no new snow.

The Powdermeter is still up there. It's on the left side of the snow report page. A total of 150 inches so far (now minus the BS factor of 30% and they probably somewhere around 100 inches).

I should be there on Saturday freezing my ass off in N/A degree weather (ie Jay Peak language for really f'n cold!).

Well I told the folks in Atlanta to give Jim Cantore a wedgie and several really bad Indian burns if we only get sub zero temps and no major snowfall. Maybe Ullr will take pity.

oh you slut. no poachfest on saturday? I am sorely disappointed. I might have to make it a speed groomer day if we don't get snow.

They're saying possible nor easter over the weekend.

I'm hoping it tracks far enough north, but I've heard 6-10 possible for Sat./Sun. They also said that there is a chance that the storm may stall over the NE bringing more like 12-18 .

The forecast I heard was for CT.

Any VT mags hear anything about this and if the storm could possibly come that way?

I'm thinking of heading up to VT for Sun./Mon....

Ski Plattekill NY $10 on 1/24

Hey, $10 lift tix at Plattekill this Monday 1/24. The storm should pad the slopes nicely over the weekend.

Anyone ever been to P-Kill, or care to try for $10? It's a very nice place--you gotta check it out once if you're from the area. You'll be glad you did!

This could be a nice opportunity for an impromptu EC mini-mini. Yeah, I know...but I figured I'd post it up anyway.

way to go fucktard now you jinxed it, Upstate NY was supposed to get 6-10 inches, now we're being told as of this AM we're going to have less then 1/2 an inch
For sure, you have to be lost to find a place that can't be found, elseways everyone would know where it was

Y'all should come down and tear it up in NJ. It'll be a balmy 14 degrees and puking on Sunday.

I'll take pics. And then post them so everybody can make fun of NJ.

Agreed. Unless of course there was a 9000 foot mountain in the greater Boston area. With the amount of moisture that area gets, and added elevation to ensure it was snow, it would be killer.

Hey man, I'm with you. I wish I was making the 3 hour drive north on Sun/Mon to ski some place in VT, but it looks like I may be hitting up Mount Southington. All of about 6 trails with 0 vertical, but if they have powder, which from the the temperature forecast it looks like they will have the total fluff, I will have to grace them with my presence. I learned to ski there 15 years ago and don't think I have been back since. I still hope the storm does track far enough north so that I do have to leave the state of CT.

We have reached a new low if people are going to Mt Southington to ski powder.

    Updated weather forcast

...WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH
    SATURDAY NIGHT...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ALBANY NY HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM
    WATCH FOR THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES...

    IN NEW YORK...ULSTER...DUTCHESS...GREENE...COLUMBIA...SCH OHARIE...
    ALBANY...RENSSELAER...SCHENECTADY AND SOUTHERN SARATOGA.

    IN VERMONT...BENNINGTON AND WINDHAM COUNTIES.

    IN CONNECTICUT...LITCHFIELD COUNTY.

    IN MASSACHUSETTS...BERKSHIRE COUNTY.

SNOWFALL AMOUNTS OF 7 INCHES OR MORE ARE POSSIBLE IN THE WATCH AREA
BY LATE SATURDAY NIGHT. THE SNOW WILL RESULT FROM A COMPLEX AREA OF
LOW PRESSURE OVER THE OHIO VALLEY SATURDAY MORNING THAT IS EXPECTED
TO REDEVELOP NEAR THE DELMARVA PENINSULA SATURDAY EVENING AND THEN
PASS SOUTH OF CAPE COD BY SUNDAY MORNING. THIS STORM TRACK WOULD
LIKELY BRING SNOW TO THE WATCH AREA STARTING SATURDAY AFTERNOON WITH
THE POSSIBILITY OF HEAVY SNOW LATE SATURDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH LATE
SATURDAY NIGHT. THE SNOW WOULD THEN TAPER OFF TOWARD DAYBREAK SUNDAY.

See you all at Magic on Sunday!
