Honda xr75, dingo boots and my favorite red hoodie. 7th or 8th grade, so 1977/1978.

That was a riding area just south of town called the "clay hills". Lots of riding acreage. Fenced off some time in the 80s.

If you'd like loop suggestions in Helena/Copper City, let me know.

Had time for a little after work lap at copper city last night. Fun stuff, wish I’d had time for a 2nd or 3rd climb. Someone put a LOT of work into those access road switchbacks!!!

Probably gonna do a long and relatively flat zone 2 gravel ride north of town today to start getting my body used to more saddle time again.

Thought about Helena tomorrow, but the forecast for Bozeman has cleared up and I’m also using this trip to buy a bunch of baby stuff on marketplace/Craigslist and in stores that we don’t really have in the Flathead…so an all day excursion might not be in the cards.

Got a sweet stroller yesterday, but I feel like the suspension could really use some tuning…way too much rebound.

Onion Park SNOTEL showing ~30 inches of new snow in 24 hours.

Ugh, I bet it would be absolute fire up at Kings Hill this morning for a skinning laps.

IIRC they usually take them offline during the off-season.

Well that really kind of sucked. Not great roads, not bad weather, 31 deg. but the road was warm from the past week. It was the 40 mph train. Guy in front wasn't tailgating, guy behind wasn't tailgating me. Several vehicles off the road in odd places. The winner was the sporty VW Beetle way off in the trees looking forlorn. Got to the S. Fk YC Gates, (road closed past the 1st turn til further notice) went to the Ousel Falls gate, by this time so was everyone else. Total goatfuck. Then up to the top of American Spirit, 8900' ASL, full on white out, thankful the YC patrol worked the road cuts over before they went on vacation. 24" new, the skiing looked great, the job sites looked miserable. Coldest temps have been upper 20s and the snow had a lot of meat to it. Going to be some sore backs tonight. And sure as hell, some fresh turns from some of the year round residents Suburban skiing tomorrow.

Somebody on FB said they had been stuck 7 hours eastbound. Gallatin Co. SAR on the way to help. Jeebus. Apparently westbound is flowing.
