This has been more fittingly named "Tropical Punch." Vancouver is expecting 300mm of rain in the next 2 days. That's a fucking foot. It is currently +2*C in the valley and 0*C at the base of Red and temps are climbing fast. The blower we recieved yesterday is turning to cementimeters as I type.

On the bright side this should knock down many of the avalanches naturally. I think I'll stay away from the b/c this weekend.

That sucks major donkey ass. Thank God it isn;t hitting us, or we'd be in for a repeat of 1997 when there was over a foot of mud in Squaw, and the Truckee River almost took out West River Street. Rain on top of 20 feet of snow = bad.

5 inches of rain since yesterday at Hurricane Ridge....everything is soaked. Saturday my horse was wearing his heaviest blanket (it was 31 and snowing at the stable in Woodinville – overnight lows were expected to be in the low 20s) yesterday he was sweating under his lightest blanket.

east side of the divide here is still holding on pretty well. 15cm fresh at the lake today and they're not expecting the freezing levels to go as high here.

PINEAPPLE-AVOCADO SALSA

Active time: 25 min Start to finish: 25 min

1 cup 1/4-inch-dice fresh pineapple
2 plum tomatoes, seeded and cut into 1/4-inch dice
1 firm-ripe California avocado, cut into 1/4-inch dice
1/2 cup chopped sweet onion 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro 1 1/2 teaspoons minced fresh jalapeño chile, including seeds
3 tablespoons fresh lime juice
3 tablespoons fresh orange juice
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil

Stir all ingredients together and season with salt.
