    Pipe Masters

Looks big, at least for the next day or two.

but after the first few round they enter a flat spell. seems like a lot of the events had a great start and lackluster finish. hope there is another round of swell

and can someone explain the overlapping heat thing. 4 guys in the water, each with priority or does a certain round have priority?

First group has priority, they are differentiated by the color sleeves they are wearing.

Kolohe admitted the days before he was hoping this swell didn't materialize. That's usually how I feel just before a paddle out on the north shore

^^^ Gotta be a relief to get a few poundings under his belt. Whatever Gudauskas brother is out there right now is getting worked! Third time to shore in this heat.

Slater came up with that concept last year. The purpose is so that not so many waves are wasted (not to mention more heats can be run in x amount of time).

Heat 1 dudes have priority in the 30 min heat. Heat 2 dudes paddle out sometime during the heat (after 15 minute mark) but have to pick H1's scraps. Heat 1 ends. Heat 2 now has priority, heat 3 paddle out and have to pick H2's scraps....repeat process.

This makes it way more entertaining because the overlapping heats (which don't have priority) tend to go for broke on the waves that they catch since they don't have a lost priority to worry about.

40 min heats today, 20 min of scraps then 20 minutes of filet mignon. Say yes to more bikinis

"what other sport do you huck yourself off a cliff without a parachute, except for base jumping? What other sport has such consequences? I can not think of one."

    1) most base jumpers use parachutes.
    2) answer to your question is "skiing"

Seriously guys. And Kelly has cojones going after that wave. Besides the fact that I suck too much at surfing, another reason I'll never be pro - just not competitive enough to go after a wave with .05% chance of being made.

Speaking of drug testing in the ASP. When are they going to test GT? He seems slightly brighter than John John.

^There are a lot of surfers that feel holier than though. I surf but i'm not 100% surfer, I love skiing, baseball, football and every other adrenaline rush I can get.

Shane Dorian just caught a beast as I typed this, dayum

I'd be lying if I didn't giggle with glee as Kelly got smoked trying for Backdoor. Some serious beat-downs today. Pretty fun.

I don't care how loose John John's grip is on reality or the English language, watching him surf Pipe is an absolute pleasure.
