    Kirkwood TR 01/15/05 (kid related)

For the fifth time this season I brought my 3-year old son up skiing at Kirkwood. Every time I bring him up I catch myself being surprised by what I see and what he is capable of:

    1. There's no fear whatsoever in a 3-year old.
    2. Every day I can see great progress in his skills.
    3. He's done with green runs. Time to bring him over to the backside.
    4. He either doesn't get tired or he doesn't show it. He lasts the whole day.
    5. I've never seen a kid as happy as him after a full day of skiing.

After some cruising on the runs around Chair 9 I took him up Chair 7. These pictures are from the last run of the day.

You see, in this world there's two kinds of people, my friend: Those with loaded guns and those who dig. You dig.

Awesome. I've got my kid geared up and ready to go out.

How do you keep the lil' bugger from bailing off the chairlift? My 3 year old won't sit still for 30 seconds, much less for 10 minutes.

I know about that problem, but for some kind of reason it's never been an issue on the ski lift. But the first couple of days I just had a firm grip on the back of his jacket the whole ride up.

That's awesome! 3-yr olds on skis are some of the coolest people on the mountain and your son looks like he's got it dialed!!!

Thanks for the compliments Kellie. I like to think he has some true talent, at least he seems to have a good feel for keeping his balance on the skis.

Twoplanker: let me know if you want some pointers when you bring your kid out. I think I've learned some lessons from the first 5 days of skiing with a kid...
