Was there an avy death in MT yesterday?

My roommate told me one of his best friends died in an avy yesterday skiing in MT, but I’ve searched news and can’t find anything. He tells some pretty tall tales but that’s not something you make up for sympathy from friends and random bar skanks.

I’d like to believe him, not that I want his friend to be dead, but telling a bunch of people that your bro was just killed in an avy for free drinks, vibes, and hugs is pretty lame. The story has changed a couple times and I've scoured Montucky news and there is no mention of it, so that’s why I’m suspicious. If its true, and I hope it isn't, I'm helping hook him up with a flight to go to the funeral. If it isn't then I'm not sure how to handle it.

Nothing in the MT Avalanche advisory either and they usually have stuff like this even if it was outside the advisory area. Does your friend have any information on where it occured?

Mentiond some creek or gulch, but not near a resort area... like I said, the story changed a couple times in the telling. Said it was a 6' crown... later in the evening it became an 8' crown. Near Bozeman I think.

There isn't enough snow near Bozeman to create a 6' crown right now. The avi hazard is considerable in many locations but I think tall tale may be right on the mark.

    Kick him in the balls.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

Yeah, pretty certain it's horseshit. I'm very pissed right now.

Asked him about details regarding the slide, funeral services, etc. All he says is “the family wants to keep everything super private so no info is being released”… like the media would respect that and not report an avy death.

Even the name/nicknames of the friend who supposedly died changed a couple times last night.

I think he needs more than a kick in the balls for this one, like serious mental help.... a lot like my last roomie, Coach.

I mean, who the fuck makes shit like this up??? next I gotta figure out how or if I'll confront him on this bullshit.

Seems like you need help picking roomates. perhaps a life coach could offer some assistance.

Poor Parvo you always seem to find yourself in the company of what I like to call the "one-uppers". Telling tall tales to keep themselves in the limelight.

The telltale sign it is a big ol' lie is that he hasn't posted anything on his facebook about it. And my roommate posts about EVERYTHING... like, "took a shit this morning... life is good!" So I was thinking there would be an outpouring of condolences among the river crew about the buddy dying. Nothing.

I said "I've seen nothing about this slide in the news or online, what's going on?"

Here's the story... the guy got burried, 8' crown, friends had to put two probes together to find him because of so much snow and recovered his body themselves since river guides don't leave anybody behind and weren't going to leave his body there til spring. didn't alet any S&R because river guides self rescue. gonna have a private funeral with no notice and secretly bury him in his favorite secluded spot with a big bonfire and get shitfaced... just like it never happened.

Pretty sure not alerting authorities about an accidental death is a crime.

Anyway, says he's heading up to Idaho for this secret bonfire funeral... but I know its actually a work trip.

    Yep, your right...

You could always call the authorities and ask for details. But, I'd make sure that your roommate is paid up on his share of the rent...
