Jackson Hole End Jan/Start Feb - looking for skiing buddies

    Hi all,
I´ll be in Jackson Hole from January 28th to February 4th and am looking to hook up with some locals to ski with. It´s my first time skiing in North America so I am pretty excited.
Am a good skier and usually chase the powder in the Alps (I live in Switzerland at the moment, but grew up in Austria). I prefer the challenging runs (steep runs, colouirs - conditions depending obv) Usually I keep up with the locals pretty well, but I don´t do any cliffjumps, backflips and straightlining coloirs....... I have all the necessary equipment of course and consider myself a responsible skier.
I heard that it is pretty easy to just hook up with people, but it would be nice to have some contacts or tips beforehand. As I neither know the terrain now won´t know the snowpack, it would just be nice if somebody showed me the good lines and I could tag along.

I am more than happy to pay your drinks at the end of the day and some meals also...

Any tips with regards to accommodation would be welcome also. Most people tell me to stay in Teton, but it seems more expensive. I have heard about the hostel of course. Is it much more inconvenient to get the shuttle from Jackson every morning? I don´t need to party bigtime, as I am obv. there to ski, but it would be nice to have a few drinks after skiing and maybe not having to hang out by myself in the evening.

    Cheers,

    Skiinggirl

I'm new to JH, but I'm sure by Feb I'll have some beta as I'll be skiing nearly every day until then. pm me when the time comes and I'll show you what I know--which, admittedly, at the moment is nil.

Shoot me a pm when you get to WYO or if you have any more questions. In the mean time, pray for snow!!
Skiing, whether you're in Wisconsin or the Alps, is a dumbass hick country sport that takes place in the middle of winter on a mountain at the end of a dirt road.

The hostel is slopeside so you just need to get a ride to and from airport from a local. Also a bus runs to the Ghee for like $75 with lift. The ghee is a great resort as well and be sure to get the nachos at the mangy moose. Alot of cliffed out areas in the BC at JH so be careful
I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

    Hi,
Just thought I revive the post, as I have a bit more than a week to go until I finally get to JH.
Seems like I have great timing (I was getting quite worried up to about a week ago and was thinking of bringing some snow from the Alps with me, but no need anymore
So if anybody fancies a ski and I could tag along with somebody, as I don't know the area at all, that would be great. (mainly interested in out of bounds/backcountry)
My first skiing day is Jan 28th, will have a week.
Have all the equipment and experience and the offer on beers is still on.
