    AP-CO--Silverton-Snow

Small resort fighting to reopen after getting 12 feet of snow

SILVERTON, Colo. (AP) -- Silverton Mountain could be called the
    little resort that wouldn't quit.

It will will reopen Thursday, after a generator is installed to
replace power knocked out by a dump of 12 feet in 15 days.

The road to the one-lift area in Colorado's San Juans had been
closed for six days until county crews plowed it open Sunday with
    two bulldozers.

The operators of the resort, which offers guided skiing Thursday
through Sunday to a maximum of 80 skiers, had hoped to reopen
sooner but the first generator they tried to bring in ended up in a
    creek.

I sense it involved a big rig driver and lots of speed.

    From http://www.silvertonmountain.com/news.php

Monster Storm Pounds Silverton- We have an amazing base at the mountain after a whopper of a storm. The road to the ski area was closed due to major snow on it for almost a week. Power lines were ripped out, and we are now running on generator power only. We stil need to find a generator to buy, as the current unit is a short term rental only. Nobody has yet skied the mountain since the mega storm! The first rental generator ended up in the creek due to poor driving skills by the delivery man from N.M. If that had not happened we would have been open for skiing this past weekend. The wait for the second generator screwed this weekend, but next weekend should be sweet. See pics in photo gallery.

    HYDRO-ELECTRIC POWER!
Scientists now have decisive molecular evidence that humans and chimpanzees once had a common momma and that this lineage had previously split from monkeys.
