Slow Start or Spoiled from 2011

Although it's always the case, I'm starting to get particularly antsy for snow. Been pretty dry thus far. Do you think we're off to a slow start (PNW excluded), or is it just that we were spoiled last year and have forgotten the norm from the not too distant future?

Either way, I'm stoked. Just curious to see if other people are having the same problem of drawing comparisons to the epic start in 2010-11.

i kinda like the way this season has gone on the EC. both of our "big" storms were so big that they were VERY good when they occurred. I'd rather have these types of storms than "a bunch of nickle and dimes" in the early season since nickle and dimes don't make for good skiing w/ no base.

ready to start base-building... but in truth you can't bet on any base building until Mid December anyway... :/

I got to agree. I'd say it's about average in Aspen.

We just released an "Opening Day" video from Nov 18 at Whistler Blackcomb, pretty average.

It's ok, there's another 5 months to go for this winter season. Good things come to those who wait, right?

It's both. Last season is still fresh in collective minds of skiers and all the ski pr0n reinforces that. Personally, having whored out a bunch of money for a bunch of new gear; I'm especially anxious to get out.

I can tell you that around here, this November is nothing like it was last year.

This "start" is Bullsh*t. I remember being bumbed when the mountain wasn't open on thanksgiving weekend especially when it was cold enough to be opened the weekend prior. Now it looks like we'll be lucky to be open on the 2nd weekend of December, Maybe. (NY here). My pass is effing melting.

November came in slightly below last year at Alta, but still right at the average. As I recall, most of the regions got hit heavy in mid-December last year, not necessarily November.
