A good call no doubt. I went outside to take the trash out in my gym shorts and a tshirt and its so warm I just about busted out a lawn chair. Checked the Crystal website and as of about 12am its 39 and probably raining buckets.

Crystal is open with limited operations.
Due to rainy weather, lift tickets have been reduced to $30 now through Wednesday. The Discovery, Chinook Express and Forest Queen lifts are open. All other lifts are closed until further notice.

In addition, we are thinking there may be some lowland road flooding, which should dry out by the end of the day Thursday.
Due to severe weather and in an effort to conserve snow, The Summit will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, January 18th. We do intend to resume operations on Wednesday, but be sure to check back for details.
Stevens Pass is closed for the rest of the day. There will be no night operations tonight. We will also be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, January 18th, due to weather conditions.

You know it's bad when Crystal is discounting tickets.

Why did I pick this year for the "Big" trip to be in Whistler. Packin up the whole Shin family on Saturday for a week at the WB. Think I can get in a round of golf or maybe hit a few teeter totters on the lower mountain?

Anyone want to start a drinking club? With no City League, my Thursday nights just became free. Pac Inn Thursdays?

I'm already part of a "lack of skiing" drinking club, but I could always join one more. What else am I gonna do? This season BLOWS

I'll be back at Whistler in a few weeks, hopefully by then ..

Right now it looks like inches of rain over the next few days.

and now from my favourite Whistler snow report

OK so we got more snow but now it's rain time. A Tropical Punch has arrived and all we can do is hope that the amount of precipitation is kept to a minimum. For an explanation of Tropical Punch versus Pineapple Express weather check the column on the left.

Our luck is holding, it's still at or below freezing level up and down the mountain. It's early yet and it might warm up but so far so good. We also got some fresh snow, let's go and try it out.

It's snowing (lightly) right now. Much more to come if you believe the weatherman. Now for the bad news. Next week warm air is moving in and we're going to have a week of snow/ice/rain. Is it going to be mostly snow or mostly rain. With our luck so far you won't see me putting down any big bets but hope does spring eternal. Don't it?

It's warming up, at least on top, the artic front is going to be kicked out, warm air with lots of moisture is coming this way but it's not going to be all good. I'm seriously bummed, I'll tell you later.

This artic front overhead is going to bite it guys. Tomorrow night it'll be history and temps should get back to normal. There is also some major snow in the offing so stay tuned. The World Snowboard Championships start tomorrow, watch us on TV!

What if everyone in the PNW opened their freezer door at the same time?

Stevens now closed Wednesday as well. Ugh. Hoping for a miracle; some sort of resurrection of the season...
