    Digital Camera Help

This camera (Olympus, Stylus 300 Digital, 3.2 Megapixel) has an LCD screen that displays full menu, number of pics, etc. etc…..I dropped it and since then the screen doesn’t work …what I get are merely white lines with an extremely vague vision of what the lens is pointed at. I can still shoot pics, using the viewfinder, and download them but without seeing the camera menu, I don’t have editing options nor do I know how many shots are left etc., etc.
I stopped in on the local camera shop and was told it would cost @ $180.00. I never sent in warrenty info and have had the thing over a year (it was a gift and I have no sales receipt). So the question going out here is what home remedy can be used to get this thing back to normal…I mean, I’ve already tried rapping it on the table a number of times and to my surprise, this didn’t work.

I doubt there's a home remedy for this... I had to send my G2 in to canon for service once to get the power supply fixed... ugh.

Then it died again when I went to Ecuador this past august... not the best timing ever, so I took it apart to see what I could do, and, well, stuff is packed in there so tight... gah.

I'd just send it in to olympus to fix or put the $180 towards a new camera like, say, the canon s410($290)/500($350) or sd300($350).

I'd use the $180 towards a new camera. Hey, you could probably find a new and just as good camera for that price. Remember that digital cameras have improved a lot in all areas the last couple of years.
You see, in this world there's two kinds of people, my friend: Those with loaded guns and those who dig. You dig.

I have been thinking about getting the Stylus 410. I like the all weather case. I thought it would great for skiing and fishing.

Thanks for the info....backpack, you're like me in that I'd rather take it apart before giving up.....I had a cell phone(star tac) that I loved ...evrybody said it's done...corroded go for up grade....took it apart and cleaned corrosion snapped back together and it was up and running fine....lost it two weeks later..now that bummed me out.
Any way the LCD screen on my Mac computer was acting up for a year and somehow it fixed itself and is now back to perfect clarity.....there must be someone out there who knows some trick to fix this stupid little camera problem....I'll probably be taking it apart...if I dropped it, then something came loose? What ever happened to Zen and the Art of Motorcycle maintenance?
