    Wolf Skis...?

Anyone know much about the "Coldsmoke" powder ski? The wayback machine didn't have any info on this pair.

    Length: 181
    Waist: 108

Pretty sure was made by the same guys who made Bad Dog skis. Should be a vertical laminate ski, and fairly beefy.

There regular sticks were pretty nice, I'd imagine the powder ski would be the same but I've never held one personally. Black or grey if I remember correctly.
Skiing, where my mind is even if my body isn't.

One of the first really fat sticks. Most likely 10 years old by now.

Used to be based out of Sun Valley. Last big powder day there were a couple of people skiing them here. I think I even saw a patroller on a pair.

    much appreciated...

Mike Brunetto, apparently. I think we (Vets and I) met him in Mammoth while test riding the Bros...

    Found dimensions for the archives...

    130-109-120mm

    Serial: 93083

My buddy seems to think that it's a 1993, #83 production. Sounds to be on target with all of your thinking.

Picking them up tomorrow. Maybe a test spin for S&G.

Mike Brunetto used to work with Tim Kohl at Research Dynamics (aka RD, RD Coyote, et al.), but left around 1990 to start Wolf Skis, a boutique ski co. based in Ketchum. (Kohl and Brunetto founded RD after working with PRE Skis when it was part of Scott USA).
The skis were manufactured to Wolf specs by various ski makers, primarily in Europe. I believe the Black Smokes were made by Atomic, but can't remember that far back. There are a number of newer versions of Cold Smokes and Black Smokes from the late 90's (possibly 00's), that are very popular BC skis with AT-types near Sun Valley). Currently several pair (of indeterminate vintage) are listed for sale in the local Ketchum paper. http://www.mtexpress.com/index2.php

    what's the difference?

not sure what the Cold Smokes' specs are, but I actually picked up a pair of "Black Smokes" last year, brand new!(207's w/ brand new MRR's I mounted myself, though the wraps r indemnifiable, the whole setup is sweet!) The Blacks are more of an old GS cut, no where near 100 in the waist, definately made by wolf in Kethum. Could send you a pic if you are interested? Haven't used them yet...I think I pull them out when skiing has become motorized.

The 108mm cold smokes that I have seen have some pretty beefy sidewalls with cracked edge construction.
