I always mount my own fucking skis, but this time I'm not happy with the results and I think I know why. Wondering what peoples thoughts are on the mount point of the same ski in different lengths. Backstory I have the Head Kore 111 in the 191cm, which are mounted for pivots on the rec line, and measure at a -10 from ski chord center. I like the ski so much that I purchased the 183 cm version to mount a touring binding on. These I mounted on the manufactures rec line as well. I've skied them a few times and they did not feel right at all. Sort of blamed it on the kit setup of lighter bindings and boots. I did not question the rec mount point and just went with it. Just measured from ski chord center on the 183's and it was -8. When the two skis were lined up side by side with the rec lines matched up it didn't look right at all. Wished I had done that before as now I have to do a remount. Here I go again...swiss cheesing skis!

I have the Nomad 115 in 181 and 186 and mounted both -7 and they are both in the right place for me. Rec is -9 from center. Different ski lengths (of the same ski) are different skis sometimes once you start moving things around.

Remounting pivots in existing holes on some heritage Lab skis - should use Hardman double bubble orange epoxy? Or original gorilla glue

Glue should be fine, maybe epoxy for a carbon layup but honestly the HL cores are the burliest of them all.

Unless is spins (which it won't I've remounted a few HL skis in old holes and they've all held well), regular glue will be more than enough.

Similar question - remounting a pair of skis but have 2 hole conflicts, maybe 2mm difference. Safest option would certainly be use an insert or helicoil for the 2 holes, but since it's only 2 per ski could I get away with hardwood plugs and mixing in some steel wool in the glue?

You're not going to notice a 2mm difference.

I just mounted a new pair of skis for me! It’s usually me mounting for everyone else. Typically I latch onto a pair of beater demos at the end of the season. We are having a very good winter back east.

    Salomon S/Lab Shift 2

Hey there, sorry if this has been posted but I just recieved my Salomon S/lab Shift 2 bindings and with the orginial shift template it looks like the toe piece bolt spacing has been updated, if I slide the toe piece all the way back on the front mounting tab I am about 8-10mm off the four mounting screws and the front two are about 1mm too narrow.as well as the bsl is about 10 mm behind center. I also noticed that the rear mounting plate puts me toward the front end of the adjustment range. I just wanted to see if anyone has had any first hand expierence with the updated bindings before I just lay it out freehand. Thanks again for this resource!

I blew the toe piece (sth2 16) clean off a ski the other day. What's the best way to fix this? Would I be fine just remounting that 1-2mm in front/behind the existing holes?Should I remount heels/toes all the way around? Some other way to fix this?

My buddy has a pivot jig and we (he) mounted my skis for the first time ever not using a shop. I was surprised at how shockingly simple it is (especially with a real jig) and the correct drill bit.

Is there a comprehensive tool list on this thread already for what will make mounting your own fucking skis easy?

if you can not figure this out on your own

OK so jhyatt got the idea right away that a wooden block or cork between ski and drill will prevent drilling thru bases but you did not really understand a mechanical thing so you do not look at something and understand how it works

many people in the 293 pages that do not have a clue about tools or mechanical stuff it can't be taught you either get it or you dont

which is alwasy easy to tell by the things people say in the thread
