I listen to a lot of Maserati, Zombi, Cinemechanica while studying. Got any more good instrumental bands to recommend?

I don't know who those bands are and if you're interested in this genre (jazzy hip hop), but Pete Rock has a pretty sweet, chill instrumental album. It's called Petestrumentals.

maserati is my favourite.

Pretty much anything Dick Dale.
fwiw: my study music. It's kinda similar to yours but not exactly.
The Bad Plus are way more than crazy Nirvana covers. I'll check out dick dale, I like complex layered music not sure if surf qualifies. I could be wrong, probably am.

I'm sure its nothing like the links posted above, but my go to instrumental album is one booker T put out a few years ago. Backed by the Drive By Truckers and even has Neil Young playing on a few tracks.
this one reminds me of cruising on the highway, start of a road trip, sun coming up, not sure what the future holds and thats ok...

Buckethead
To the Thingmajigger!
+1
Lotsa variety in the Buckethead catalog.
Colma is mellow kinda trance like, Electric Tears is similar.
The Thanatopsis stuff is more jazzy, Axiology being the best IMO, Population Override is great too.
Cuckoo Clocks From Hell is heavy thrash, definitely not easy listening.
Buckethead is prolific as hell, must have released over 50 CDs worth of music, I love the guy but still haven't heard half of it.
"The mind, once expanded to the dimensions of larger ideas, never returns to its original size."
Buckethead seems interesting, I'll have to check it out. After listening to a lot of the music you guys have posted and reading the wikipedia entries for the bands I liked best from here, turns out I like "post-rock." Who knew?

some more post rock instrumental goodness for ya then:
the Dirty Three
Mogwai
and this has vocals but they are indistinguishable and almost are like an instrument
Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Penguin Cafe Orchestra
All I know is that I don't know nothin'... and that's fine.
Emancipator
SuperVision
Pelican City (i.e. early danger mouse)
Gramatik (pretty much anything off 'street bangerz' vol. 1-3)
Groove Armada - Mary
Little People
also This Will Destroy You
Djam Karet isn't for everyone. Great guitar rifts. I used to listen their songs during those long pre-dawn drives to various trailheads.
