    Underground Garage (Sirius/XM)

Man this station has really grown on me over the past few months, I listen to it all the time lately. Cool mix of music, a little too much '50's for me, but ti's generally pretty upbeat and rowdy, a lot of bands I didn't know before, I dig it. Anybody else listening?

I still wish they'd bring back X-Country, but "Deep Tracks" got pretty old, glad I picked up on the UG.

UG could be a lot more underground and garage, but it's still a decent station.
the goodness of the station depends on the dj, handsome dick manitoba's show being my fave.

Yeah it's definitely not perfect but I enjoy it most of the time. Sometimes it's definitely like "wtf does this have to do with garage?" but other times it's pretty dialed. Good with the bad I guess. Mighty Manfred, Kid Leo and Handsome Dick all seem about on a level to me, I dunno.

One of the best stations on there. Why do they want to start charging me $3 a month instead of just 3 years upfront? Seems odd.

I wonder what happened to Handsome Dick Manitoba? Kid Leo and Manfred are still on there all these years later. I spend a lot less time in the car than used to so I dont listen as much, but its still pretty good. The Andrew Loog Oldham show was good in the day but RIP. Also Kim Fowley RIP. Palmyra Delran isnt too bad these days although she can be annoying.

It took me a while to deal with Palmyra since I'm not an easy coaster, the accent is quite a bit more forward. But she consistently drops knowledge.

You mention the car and that's probably the main reason I like it. Being in the boonies with no cell reception to stream the gf's Spotify.
But the version on the desktop is quite a bit more robust. Dozens of extra stations and ability to listen to things like buried treasure on demand.

These days I listen the most to https://mvyradio.org it's a really good station, although the DJs vary. I particularly enjoy Bill Narkiewicz 6:00-9:00 ET M-F. It's kind of my local station, I'm not on Martha's Vineyard but it's only like 10 miles away.

The alt country/Americana sttion XM used to have was great but they nuked it for their Outlaw Country station, which blows.

I dropped Sirius/XM because of the repetition. I do very much miss UG and to a lesser extent Outlaw Country. Signed up for a 2 month commercial free scrip to You-Tube and am streaming music from there as long as I have bars. Amazing selections of mix-music.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

As much as I hate the idea of paying for YouTube without ads, I have found myself increasingly listening to music through there. Tough to get the algo tuned right IMO but has led to some new and unusual song discoveries.

I download music (‘yarrr) when I want for building my own playlists. And I have never been on Spotify because I always feared getting all my music from a single source…

Spotify is great for getting a whole album on demand. I should probably download more off-site, not sure if that works with Spotify.

I just re-upped my Sirius for 3 years. It's just too convenient for driving or working out of your truck, which I do a lot of.

Helps if you like very diverse genres of music, I suppose.
