Definitely not a cash cropper, but fire.

    Peyote Purple before the chop.

Those are some nice work little buddy.

It has been 2-3 years since I have bought anything from the spot market. Just picked up an oz to pay a friend who had done some work for me. The material is pretty and frosty and all and tastes great etc etc. On the other side of the coin, it doesn't supply the effect of what I have grown myself. My product doesn't look nearly as pretty but it does what its intended to do.

My source is clones from a local MMJ op that would have been other wise killed, started inside in 5 gallon self watering buckets and then moved outside until the frosts threaten. Here that is mid-September, I will follow the weather and move them inside the garage and back out until its time to harvest them, Mid-late Oct. if all goes well.

As a professional could you comment on that aspect of the legal weed business.

    Tastes great, less thrilling?

I'm not really sure what you are getting at?

What aspect are you interested in?

Home grown has a bit of a placebo effect. So does home brew. Home cooking. etc.

Store bought weed can be good, but the consumer is not discerning enough for great weed on a commercial scale.

Not so much legal as over produced for looks/taste VS effect.

For BD, does the quest for really sugary buds detracts from the THC content? I have been a weed connoisseur for 40 years and the best highs I can recall were from good seeded Gold Colombian weed. I may not remember correctly though.

Yes, Thai Sticks. Really unique flavor.

1st weed I ever got my hands on was in about 74.

Acapulco Gold, Without any benchmarks, no telling how good it really was but from what little I recall it was effective.

The sugar is THC, so any increase in the sugar is going to push up the THC content. That doesn't mean the effect profile will match what you are looking for, however.

In 2014 I got a 1/4 oz of Columbian Gold, a nice and balanced landrace sativa, from Golden Leaf in Steamboat. More relaxing than a Durban Poison (espresso weed), almost like a FLO. If you want to replicate that effect profile I'd buy strains like these (among others):
    - FLO
    - Lavender Jones [Lavender (i) X Casey Jones (s)]
    - Chocolope
    - Purple Haze
    - Tangerine Haze

All of those are relaxing without being sleepy, similar to the old genetics of CG. If you're lucky you might even be able to find a proper, long haired batch of Columbian Gold.

This site has a good amount of information on strains that pair with desired effects: https://www.leafly.com/explore

Cannabis today can reach into the 30% mark for THC content. The Cannabis of the 70s was more land race, and had far lower THC levels.

Pollinated Cannabis has even lower levels, because plants NRG is spent making seeds and not THC.

Good stuff, thanks to both of you.

Also as an aside, I found a MMJ container on a ski slope a few years back. It contained a fat J of something labeled Cloud 9 Rush and appeared to be a Cali strain.

Very peppy and fun, the kind of bud I usually prefer.

As one of my favorite all time shows, I can relate to that.
