They didn't want it bad enough to do all the missionary work of changing law, but with that barrier overcome...

Then the question becomes who these "big guys" are. I don't see enough overlap in Tobacco or Pharma businesses with Cannabis. Maybe beer/wine/spirits? Or just a lot of targeted private equity funding a lot a different parts of the sector?

Good point. Was only thinking of when it becomes legal at Fed level.

I think the big guys in the weed world will be successful startups that simply grow into a position where they influence the industry. By the time it's legal in fed level and all the lending and banking is sorted out there will already be dominating industry forces (if there are not already??!)

Yup - dixie elixir comes to mind in CO as a group that will be ready to spread far and wide. The crazy part is the sheer number of cities where someone could get in on the green rush as the dominos fall. I think it is between MA and VT as the first NE state to go full legal. The money that state makes will "shatter" sales records in the current legal states.

Not sure how you come to that conclusion. VT only has a population of 625000 (less than AK). MA doesn't have many more people than CO, and (in my experience) a more conservative view of ganja than CO or west coast. What am I missing?

    A census table?

NYC alone has more than ten times the people as denver or seattle - neither state is very far and believe you me, the demand will be high like for maybe forever -
I mean the simplest ground zero for a rec explosion would be NYS itself, but although we are solid blue the state legislature does business like they are in the deep south - #oldwhitemenneedweed

Check out the Green Solution in DEN......ass-kicking and more than doubled their locations Rec and Med....maybe 15 locations now.....

NYC should go legal first, work out all the big population problems before national, the process will evolve before national rules evolve.

I remember the delivery service in NYC. Had a code, first time was given new code. Shrooms tabs, hydro, reg, mexi brick.... fairly normal prices for the hustle.

"Demand high like forever" is an understatement.

As of Jan NY will be medical. Only 5 licenses for the whole state. We're only getting vapors and edibles. No plant matter....... It will be a while before the whole state goes recreational. Dictator cuomo made it so you have to pretty much have to have some serious almost border terminal illness. I heard IBS is next on the list. If it was to go legal in NYC, holy shit the bank they would make, plus hit everything with NYC prices......

OK I get there are lots of people in states bordering MA & VT. And I can see a big initial surge driven by novelty. But how many are willing to regularly drive 4-5 hours to score legal weed instead of buying black market in their back yard? Is NY and CT weed that bad/scarce?

These people you speak of. The faithful. They will drive much further than that.

Its not a close decision if you want any variety in your stone imo.

Like bootleg moonshine versus a liquor store.

Sure, totally get Teh Faithful - 10% of the adult population consumes 80+% of the legal weed. Just surprised - and impressed - at the lengths Teh NE Faithful will go. guess I've been spoiled by the abundance and variety here, even during prohibition.

Perhaps even Pareto-optimal distributions of a large enough population can produce a pronounced preponderance of antiprohibitionistic puffery?

Indeed. We must remember that in most of Prohibitionland, the choice is generally one of, "Dope" or "No dope".
Of course, there's also, "Come back in a couple hours. I don't feel like reaching under the couch to get it right now. I'd have to pause Beavis & Butthead and not be a sorry muthafuckin dope dealer."

Very few strainwhores in Prohibitia...Most just take what they can get.

My new shop. Decided to use a similar tent set up to veg up the clones. Once they are bushy enough, I am going to take down the tent, and spread everything out.

    Still lots to do.

I can guarantee that there is prob no one in nyc that will drive 4+ hours to get it legal. They'll over pay using the delivery service. Plus most people in NYC don't have cars. Now they may take the train up to white plains if they have no options in the city at the moment. My fiends that live there either get their goods via Ct, through their medical or they just go with the delivery service. I don't think ct has all that good of a system. I haven't been impressed with anything that comes out of their dispensaries.

Heading to California today and have been out of the loop. I'll be picking up some Cheba Chew decadose as that's the last thing I remember being awesome. Any other suggestions?

pick up some O-pens and cartridges. I fly with the cartridges in my carry on packed with the liquids

By far the easiest way to get baked, tastes like good weed and least amount of hassle and prep time.

Although I understood the implications of a yes vote, and maybe in the long run this is good - I still think this sucks as it will just fan the fucktard flame of prohibition -

    down vote in OhighO

Not that I like to venture in there but I thought this election topic was more appropriate in polyass:

The important thing is the article conveys that the vote is not just about the weed.

And either Ohio has some sort of 100% State-funded single payer healthcare system, or the anesthesiologist quoted at the end is a typical idiot doctor with regard to how money works. :nono:

As long as Cali goes right and we have the green coast, the mid west can bugger off.

^^^ Good synopsis. The bill was classic 'Merica - this gang of 10 tried to buy an election. State legislature nicely cock-blocked that shit, so the bill was doomed from the get-go. Too bad, but maybe the issue will get on the OhighO ballot next year in a kinder/gentler version? Better to wait a year for a good implementation rather than live with a shitty one for a long time
