Dairy cows fed industrial hemp produced milk with detectable levels of the buzz-inducing molecular compound THC, according to a new study from Germany that could influence the potential uses of hemp as an ingredient in animal feed.
The dairy cows also showed behavioral changes — yawning and salivating a lot, moving a little unsteadily on their hoofs, standing in one place for a protracted period, and having a “somnolent appearance.”
The peer-reviewed study, conducted on Holstein cows in Berlin and published Monday in the journal Nature Food, is one of the first major investigations of the use of industrial hemp as a potential supplement in animal feed.
Milk..... its good for you
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

Love the drying racks
@bunion, I’m no expert on ungulate digestion, but I really doubt cows can get high eating hemp. Legal hemp has 0.3% THC. About 90% of THC in a plant is trapped as THC-a, which isn’t psychoactive unless heated. So unless a cows digestive tract reaches 220F, the THC-a will not release its carboxyl chain and become THC. And even then you’re talking about 0.3%.
Maybe German hemp is more potent
Holsteins are lightweights?

I was gifted a big bag of homegrown French Cookie so I decided it was time to experiment again. I made cannabutter a few years ago with trim but this was all buds this time. With the ultimate goal of making gummies, I chose to make infused coconut oil as I figured it would be the better option.
First I cleaned up the buds and ground them in an electric spice grinder. To decarboxylate, I put it in a foil covered glass baking dish and into a 250f oven for 40 minutes.

After
I then melted some organic coconut oil and poured it over the weed. It went back into the oven at 200f for 2 1/2 hours. I stirred it and lowered the temp to 180 for another 1 1/2 hours.
That seemed like enough time so I pulled out a strainer and covered it in a single layer of cheese cloth and poured the oil into a measuring cup and then used that to pour it back into the original oil jar.
Since this was homegrown it’s hard to tell the exact amount of mg of THC but my best estimate is around 5000 for the ounce of buds I used. This should make each Tbsp around 150-160mg. I can now dose gummies, brownies, cookies, or popcorn relatively easily.
Beautiful colour.
Here, eat this it is somewhere between 5-25mg. Rough math.

Looks good... yer gonna keep the testing in house first? That batch of taffy you made and lopped into ur idea of "doses" was melt into the chair in 20min - for social gathering [emoji44]
The coconut butter works great and lasted for months. Just smear it on toast or a cracker... or bruchetta if you want to get cute.
End product will get hard and somewhat brittle to cut... don't microwave for a speedy smear. It steps on the potency
I am not in your hurry
Heat it up again and add a few tablespoons of sunflower lecithin. It helps absorption

Where were you yesterday, Mr Science? [emoji6]
My attempt to make gummies today could have used some lecithin as an emulsifier. The good news is the silicone molds worked perfectly and I was able to pop out the bears easily and toss it all back in a bowl and reliquify in the microwave. I’ll add lecithin tomorrow and pour back into the molds.
Oil is the milky color and the candy is the clear green.
I’ll have to add another tablespoon of THC oil tomorrow as well since it made more liquid than I anticipated and I want the estimated dosage around 10mg per bear.
We are a little over 1 year into legal recreational here. The law was passed with a chunk of the revenue going to habitat preservation and recreation improvements. Now the Governor wants to take more of that and channel it to public safety (Law enforcement) in spite of the fact that we have a $2.5 Bil. surplus.
Among the most significant changes from that initiative is an almost complete reversal of how much money from legalization goes into the state general fund as opposed to the conservation and wildlife programs that were a top priority of some backers of the ballot proposal. Initiative 190 would have set aside more than 37% of the money in a marijuana revenue fund for securing conservation easements and access to public lands through programs like Habitat Montana, with additional monies going to trail and park maintenance and wildlife preservation. Only 10% of the proceeds would go to the state general fund.Hopkins’ bill, on the other hand, doesn’t set aside any money for conservation easements, funneling $6 million first to tribal healthcare and the HEART Fund, a yet-to-be-approved substance abuse treatment program proposed by Gov. Greg Gianforte that legislative appropriators have so far declined to finance. Almost 90% of the remaining revenues would go to the state general fund, with what’s left going to parks, trails and wildlife — a change that has given considerable heartburn to public lands hunters and environmentalists, a key constituency of support for the initiative.
“The ballot measures were a clear mandate by the voters,” said Nick Gevock, conservation director with the Montana Wildlife Federation, echoing a common refrain among Democrats and other initiative backers. Several members of his organization, sportsmen’s groups and others came to the Capitol on Thursday to voice their support for conservation funding from marijuana revenues, though it’s not clear how successful they’ll be.OTOH, Quality has really gone up in the past 3 months. The Governor’s Office is behind a bill heard in a House committee Thursday that aims to reduce the amount of money going toward the Habitat Montana conservation program by eliminating an estimated $8 million to $9 million annually in marijuana revenue and putting it toward police, prosecutors and correctional officers.
The sponsor of House Bill 462, Rep. Marta Bertoglio, R-Clancy, said she had not consulted any conservation groups about the diversion of funds, but had heard from many in opposition to the bill in the leadup to its initial hearing in the House Appropriations Committee.
Cost is kind of a bummer. Last 1/8th I bought was $ 42.00. Around the same as I was paying on the illegal market.

Doesn't take much - very sensitive. Think it's because I'm still recovering from the 70's.

Thought post decarboxylating heat was a "don't do"? It seemed to step on the buzz when i softened with the microwave. Perceived or real [emoji848]

Legal Rec in NJ... just the advent of over the last few yrs has expanded the marketplace by multiples. Currently use 3 to our front door grey market services that all have very complete menus that consistently change.
Enforcement seems to be non-existent.
The edible options are aplenty, although tinctures would be nice
I am not in your hurry
Holy shit!!!! I am moving home stat.

Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.
I did not see that coming.
