the juice aint worth the squeeze...

ethanol will easily pull 90%+ of cannabinoids, trying to reclaim the other sub 10% is not worth the time/money/effort unless you are running large scale, and at that point you are onto distillation or other techniques

if you are in a resin scraping time of life (no judgement), then to reclaim more of the ethanol you could do a water wash and then evap down and winterize, but that seems like a lot of effort for like 3 bong hits worth of thc...

Why not..... I bought a bag of Cacao powder at Costco and have a bunch of Canna-butter. I was thinking of liquefying the butter on a double boiler and stirring in straight sugar or brown sugar and cacao powder to form what should (when cooled) create a chocolate like substance that will harden into shapes from a candy mold.

No idea yet of quantities of the sugar and the powder. If you are not compromising State secretes I would love to hear your thoughts.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

ah, so you are looking at using reg butter and making a more fudge like candy that wouldnt require tempering

    some scattered thoughts...

im not super familiar with working with butter in that regard, but any recipe calling for butter should work just fine to sub in the cannabutter, i would check bad kats recipes and see if any may fit the bill for starting points, her choc peanut butter bombs are delish

also consider cutting in some mct to help with bioavailability and thus potency if your starting material is strong enough

i use cacoa butter as my medium, which isnt great for extraction efficiency, but it makes for a higher grade choc product and i have excess of material so fuck it

mct would be a better extraction medium, and then sub in place of some of the cacoa butter in recipe, it will change tempering and degrade quality though, i plan to experiment a bit here and see what kind of ratios may work or if its just a lower grade product not worth the compromise

lecithin, use it for any edible, it makes a HUGE difference in not only potency effects but creamier mouth feel as well as being an emulsifier so stability increases as well

for the tempered choc i make the ratios i use
    1 pow : 1 butter : 1/3 sweetener
heat over double boiler, temper as needed, pour and cool not in fridge (moisture will make it bloom)

i add the lecithin in the extraction process at a ratio of 1g lecithin : 1g thc (not flower but actual thc), ive seen 1ml lecithin : 1 cup liquid referenced as well, it aint rocket surgery

a word on mouth feel and texture...
chocolate doesnt really dissolve, it just gets mixed together
this means the particle size of ingredients matters, and its why to make chocolate they do whats called conching which is basically smashing the granules as small as possible
i put my cacoa powder in the blender, it helps A LOT, but it still isnt great
i use coconut sugar and also put it in the blender, it helps A LOT, but still isnt great
bakers sugar would be a good starting point if using reg sugar
start with the finest granule ingredients you can

add salt, most recipes dont call for it, but a pinch really helps bring flavor up

water is your enemy, even a drop will fuck it all up and make things a clumpy mess of shit, i try as hard as i can to keep a clean kitchen but end up covered in choc and rags everywhere, but do not use the sink, do not wash your hands, NO WATER

thats all i got for now, good luck and enjoy the process, i fucked up a bunch but always got something useful in the end, and after some experience i feel like can knock out some decent products now

That map is pretty wild. Hard for me to believe there are supposedly liberal states (like MN) that haven't gotten on the full legalization train. Once you are around it for awhile, it seems like the biggest non-big-deal ever.

So, whats the rack rate for legal good weed around the US.

SW MT is around 30-35 an 1/8th with about a 6-7 dollar tax added on top.

Massachusetts is between $50-75 an eighth plus 18-22% in taxes. Pre-rolls are $10-15 each and if they have 1gm packs they run $20 or so per gram.

I don't know where you're shopping GL but at my local here in Mass. most of the 8ths are $40-$45. They only have a couple different 1g packs right now but one's $14 and the other's $17. The 1g prerolls are mostly $14 but a couple are as high as $18. .3g prerolls are all $7.00 It probably helps some that there are 4 other stores within about 5 miles of the one I go to.

They keep expanding their D8: D9 offerings, I have to try that at some point I guess but I've been kinda leery for whatever reason.

Mass. has been so lucky that it's taken so long for Vermont and NY to come on line with rec stores. Billions made.

Not to mention CT, RI and NH. We're apparently surrounded by states that don't like money.

I'm sure prices will go down some here once there's real competition around us.

^Yeah they're winning big, the taxes are nuts. Just look at the license plates at the shops along the main roads, they're filled with out of state plates. We really need to get our shit together here in NY.

I was at NETA in Northampton on Thursday, one in N Adams the week before, Pittsfield and Great Barrington two weeks before that. I did stop at one in Brockton a while back that was more reasonable, had 1/8s as low as $30 with most at $45-50.

Haha. My wife had a craft fair at the indoor sports center in Hanover and we stayed there. FWIW they have a couple of weed stores there which elevates their status somewhat.

Well if you took 195 from Providence to MA 24 to get there you came within about 10 miles of my house on your way, give me a heads up if you go back.
